Finally! A Marchesa wedding gown

9:58 AM

I have to admit I have an embarrassing obsession with UK gossip mags. I just find them totally and utterly amusing. They say things in there that could not be said in any of the US mags and they always have some great stories about awesomely trashy stars like Katie (or is it Jordan) and Peter.

In the past year and a half, I've been to London more than 20 times (that 8 hour flight is nothing to me compared to the 21 hours to Singapore!) and every time before I come home I buy a ton of trash mags to read on the plane. I've even asked one of the executives at my company, who's based in the UK, to bring them over to me when he comes to Seattle. I know, sad, right, but oh so entertaining! (and even funnier, he really does bring them over for me!)

Moving on to the point of this post... One of the girls that is in every one of those trash mags is Colleen McLoughlin who happened to wear a Marchesa wedding gown that cost 100,000 GBP which is roughly $200,000! I've been waiting to see some pictures of the Marchesa bridal collection that I blogged about a few months ago. I guess this is the first one to have come out.

What do you think? For the Marchesa lovers out there, does it live up to their usual beautiful concoctions? Personally, I think it's really pretty but it sure didn't exceed my expectations. Especially for that amount of money!

Go to Catwalk Queen for more details of her wedding.

  1. Oooh it's SO Marchesa!! But $200k?! I think not!

  2. It's definitely pretty, but not THAT pretty. Any tips on traveling to London? :)

  3. Ha ha, this post made me laugh...

Yesterday I bought OK magazine just to see this wedding (which I found very disappointing) and there's a section in the middle called OK!USA and I found it really entertaining and thought it was funny the things they say and do differently to our trashy mags!

So, it's was funny cos it works both ways :)

  4. Kate - seriously! The price is insane!

Rebekah - Thanks for the idea, I think I will do a post on London and my favorite places!

Guilty - THAT makes me laugh! I thought you guys would think our humor was quite dull. I love how the UK uses certain words or phrases. Sometimes I have to ask my UK friends what they mean and then I use it constantly. I said "Bloody Hell!" for about two weeks straight, and everyone in our UK offices laughed. Everyone in the US, not so much. They just looked at me strangely.

  5. the dress is stunning - not 200k stunning but still beautiful...i almost wish the detailing on the skirt was used just on the bottom back and went into a small train...hard to explain...

  6. wish there was more detailing at the neckline/bodice.
