Makeup!!

I am a makeup junkie. I can never get enough of it. Here's a crappy cellphone picture of of my makeup shelf that J put up in the bathroom for me. That's 3 traincases full of makeup, two cans full of lipgloss, lip liner and lip stick and then a brush can and brush roll bag. But actually I have more. Below that is a drawer that is full of even more eyeshadows, lip glosses, lip sticks and brushes. And because I travel so much, I bought enough back up brushes and make up to never have to unpack my travel makeup bag. AND my purse is full of makeup. OK I know, I have a problem. I have enough makeup to last 3 lifetimes. What can I say. I loves me some makeup.

If you can notice the traincases and cans, they are all Stila. I have 3 brands that dominate my stash: Stila, Bare Escentuals and Smashbox. I have already mentioned that I'll probably be doing my own makeup and so I'm not too worried about not having the right colors or the right tools. I've been playing around with my looks trying to decide what to do for my wedding.

I've decided this is the look I'm going for:
Bright eyes lined with dark liner, full lashes, peachy blush and light pink lips. I'm also in love with her hair and hope that I can get mine to curl like that.

So even with my arsenal of tools I have one slight problem... I think I'm gonna end up looking greasy, especially outside in the sun. I fear that my pictures will make me look like this:
Help! Any tips?

  1. i heart makeup too, especially stila & nars. ;-) to avoid the shiny glow, i would try a matte-ifying primer or moisturizer. i know m.a.c. has one called "m.a.c. matte," and your beloved smashbox also has their photofinish primer which claims to also give skin a matte look. other than that, have lots of oil absorbing sheets! ;-) you will look gorgeous!

  2. I swear by my Bare Escentuals... but if I need a primer that will keep my skin from being super oily, I LOVE LOVE LOVE Benefit's Dr. Feelgood. It gives you a good base for any makeup, and I find that it makes my pores way less noticeable. Love the Mila Kunis look- very effortless beauty. :)

  3. mila looks stunning in that photo - love her makeup. simple but fun and totally chic. i'm not a big makeup person but i know mac has a blot powder that may be good for this - it doesn't deposit any colour so you can even do a quick dusting before you take photos...and perhaps have one of your bridesmaids carry blot paper in their purse? just in case of a shine situation...

  4. Angel - Thanks for the tips! I have used Smashbox's primer and although I love it for long wearing makeup, I don't think it helps with shine.

budgetsavvybride - I love my bare escentuals too. I used to use Dr. Feelgood, I might have to try it out again. I can't remember if it helped with my shine but I loved it as a base.

Kay - I think you and Angel are right. I'm just gonna have to stick with the blotting papers. Seems like the easiest and quickest way.

  5. i love stila products, except for the matte eyeshadows as i find the to chalky. i love their shimmery highlighters and eyeshadows..its so rich in pigmentation and superior in texture!

thanks for sharing pictures of your stash. being the make-up junkie that i am, id love to see pictures of your entire stash including your make-up thats in those drawers. ;) i also keep a separate stash for my traveling brushes...it definitely beats having to re-pack everything again!

  6. autumnmornings - I actually have a picture of my entire stash that I took about a year ago to document my craziness. haha! I'll see if I can dig it up. I sadly have added way more to my stash than that picture but you'll get the idea!

  7. i went to sephora to consult about wedding makeup and the girl who did mine was amazing. i was going to get bare escentuals (sp?), but she said there's some mineral/powder in the makeup that will make you look funny in the photos...something about giving you a weird glow...I dunno if it's true or not, but it was enough to scare me away from it...at least for wedding photos. Instead of BE, she recommended Lorac, which was specially designed for the red carpet so lots of celebs apparently wear it. It's supposed to make you have a beautiful glow. I wore it on my wedding day - a beach wedding in the heat and humidity - and it stayed on really well. lorac wet/dry powder and foundation were what i used...those and the croc kit in some pretty shimmery neutrals for my eyes with black eye liner and pink lip gloss. lorac also has a bronzer/blush combo with really pretty colors.

    happy shopping!

  8. shopaholic, thanks so much for the great tips! I've heard the same about BE too. I'm going to look into Lorac.
