Can you handle the cuteness?

I am straying from my usual fashion/style posts to another side of me – crafty-ish! 🙂

One of my girlfriends is having a baby and I decided that I wanted to find something cute to make for the baby. I haven’t crocheted in a long time, like 2 years but I decided to pick up my crochet hook and went hunting for a cute pattern online.

I found many a baby hat and booties but then I came upon the world of Amigurumi, which is basically the Japanese art of crocheting cute stuffed animals. I instantly fell in love and had to try one. I had low expectations considering I wasn’t that great at crocheting before but here is my first project.

Turtles!! Aren’t they so cute?
I made one bigger than the other so they could be boyfriend/girlfriend.

love their little feet.

My mother in law has all these miniature furniture sets and these chairs just fit them so well.

To give you a picture of how small these guys really are here is my little Savvy getting all Dogzilla on them.

I love them so much that I can’t give these away. (Sorry Jen!) hehehe, I suppose I could make a couple more to give away 🙂

Just look at their faces…

I’ve been getting a bit of sore fingers after making these little guys. Have to give them a rest for a bit.

    abbie – thanks!

milly – you can! Seriously before I made these I was a total beginner. You can ask J. I made a lot of ugly coasters to practice.

    emily – thanks!

jenna – aww! they would be honored to be on your desktop! I was thinking of making them into ring holders too.

miss burb – I’m sure once you get the hang of things you will remember. And I swear these are not too hard to make. You only do like 3 types of stitches. It’s mainly just single crochet.

Ashley – ha! I think the pros would laugh at my little turtles. I saw some that were AMAZING.

AmyJean – aww thanks! Savvy was so curious as to why i was taking pictures of those things and not her!
