JGeb asks: You are the queen of shoes and style! Hmm, my first question would've been what do you do, but that seems to be covered. So I guess I would like to know when it was you first became so interested in fashion and shoes?
aww thanks JGeb! so sweet of you to say! :) I will get to my job in a later post. To answer your second question, I was practically born into it. My mother is the original "queen of shoes and style". She truly is the most stylish person that I know. I don't think I've ever not been interested in fashion and shoes. In Middle School I was voted "Most Fashionable" and in High School I was voted "Best Wardrobe". It's always just been a part of who I am. (Did any other schools do this voting thing or was it just the schools I went to? Kind of weird now that I think about it.)
Lo asks: My question is what was your first expensive clothing/shoe purchase that changed the way you shopped for clothes/shoes? And do you still have that piece?
My "turning point" purchase was my very first Louis Vuitton bag. I was in Paris and I hadn't planned it but knew that I would regret it if I didn't buy my first LV in Paris. Since then, I've bought an LV bag every time I visit France. Three in Paris, one in Cannes.
Here is the gorgeous store on the Champs-Elysees. If you are a LV fan, it is a must see!
And yes, I still have it! I retired this bag about a year ago (too small now) but will never part with it. My Jimmy Choo obsession soon followed (after a trip to London).
ka1t_lyn asks: what is the best deal you think you have gotten while out shopping - be it your home or shoes or a thrift store find - the possibilites are endless!
I first have to mention that I've never been to a thrift store. I have nothing against them and I see a ton of bloggers that have the most beautiful things that they've found thrifting but I do not have the patience for digging through things to find a good deal. When I shop, I like to have everything laid out in front of me. No digging necessary. My best deals clothing and shoe wise are always found at Nordstrom Rack, which I have very little patience for most of the time. But I have gotten lucky without doing too much digging. I seem to have a short term memory when it comes to what I buy, so I can only talk about my best deal of this year which were the Nina Riccis that I had previously blogged about. You can't beat $1,050 shoes marked down to $199!
Tam Pham asks: what's the one fashion item that you WANT but can't bear to splurge on???
This LV bag. I've been in love with it since it came out but I could never spend $3,000 on a handbag. In fact, any purse or shoe over $1,000 is terribly hard for me to spend money on. Even when I have the money and know that I can afford it, it still seems so excessive to spend that much money on something like a handbag.
Love this last question, will you all share with me what is the one item that you would love to splurge on but just can't?

i have the black mahina and i can tell u that this bag is worth every penny. i'm not a big fan of LV bags but i liked this one because you can't really see the monogram and it doesn't scream LV at you.
ReplyDeleteand i always buy a longchamp bag when i'm in france. ;)
a lipstick red chanel 2.55. i'm waiting until the right time...
ReplyDeleteUm, as a very, very poor person - feel free to unload any retired bags in my direction.
ReplyDeleteLord knows how long it'd be until I'd actually be able to afford one. ;-)
Yay, thanks for answering my question! I guess the one item I would love to splurge on but just can't bring myself to do it is any pair of jeans over $160. I really want a pair of William Rast jeans ... but not for $200+ I'll spend that and more on shoes and bags and cashmere and dresses, but not jeans. Weird?
ReplyDeletethat LV is to die for ...but I feel ya ...even $1000 is a bit much for me. I get too afraid I'm going to ruin it and won't use it. However, I do accept handbags as gifts from my father in law ...at any price :)
ReplyDeleteYour blog entries make me drool! :D
ReplyDeleteBeing a broke college student, right now a splurge for me would be a few more thermals to layer for the winter :) Awesome post, that black LV bag is beautiful!
ReplyDeletethe splurge i can't stomach: a chloe bag. i *almost* scored an incredible deal on one during the gilt sale a month or two ago, but i didn't finish the purchase in time and it was snapped up! i was devastated!! xoxo
ReplyDeletelove your blog! my first "designer" purchase was an lv bag too!
ReplyDeleteInteresting questions and stylish answers!
ReplyDeletei am thinking about a silver louis vuitton mahina too. very savvy.
ReplyDeletea beautiful, one of a kind designer/couture piece, or a nice classic pairs of boots or shoes from Christian Louboutins. I am more likey to splurge on a nice beautiful designer dress than I would on bag eventhough I know I get more use out of the bag then the dress..
