Top: Wet Seal
Leggings: Forever 21
Boots: Aldo

My husband and I love living in the city and try not to go anywhere that requires us to take the freeway to get anywhere. We really don't need to as we have the best restaurants and boutiques within a 10 minute drive or walk, so we rarely shop at a typical shopping mall. (It also takes me less than 5 minutes to get to work which I think is the best part of all!) This also means we hardly ever go to Target, but you know how you always have to make a stop by there before each vacation to stock up on random stuff? So we trekked our way to the nearest Target and decided to check out the mall nearby. I walked by Wet Seal and I hadn't been in that store since I was teenager but thought I'd take a peek as I remembered reading that Emily from Cupcakes and Cashmere had posted quite a cute dress she found there. My initial reaction was that the quality was a bit worse than Forever 21, but they had some cute styles and I couldn't pass on this little flannel shirt that was only $25!
I was recently sent a copy of City Chic: The Modern Girl's Guide to Living Large on Less, and reading through it inspired me to create this outfit as I know I'm not the best with outfits on the cheap especially with my shoes so I'm especially proud that this entire outfit probably cost me less than $150. If you are like me and hate sacrificing your little luxuries, I highly recommend getting this book. It not only covers shopping for clothes but home decorating, and even eating out. I've had a couple of people tell me that I'm great at knowing when to splurge and when to save which I think is a great compliment and something I learned from my parents. This book covers that and more, I agreed with so many things. Anyway, if you are interested in getting a copy, pick one up here!

Cute outfit! And what's wrong with looking like a teenager again? ;) Hmm, I'd always wondered about the quality of Target clothing (we don't have them up in Canada). I can't believe it snowed either, this winter sucks!!
ReplyDeletehehe I got that book too! It's pretty useful eh, except for the whole dumpster diving thing.
Such a cute look on you ...the snow is awesome and I WISH I only had a 5 minute commute!!!! Must be so nice.
ReplyDelete{I love the idea of being 5-10 minutes from everything...especially walking. We're keeping that in mind when looking for houses to buy. I love the small community feel when stuck in a large city}
I loooove your new haircut, it looks so good!
ReplyDeleteI would love to live in a city and have the convenience that you have. We're travelling out West this summer and I'm hoping to convince my husband to move out there after he sees it!
I too love Wet Seal but agree that the quality isn't superb. However, for the price you can pick up trendy items that will go out of style easily. Same w/ Forever 21. Love those stores!
ReplyDeleteI love this on you...it looks so comfy, but not the least bit sloppy.
ReplyDeleteI like your outfit, you look so laid-back ;)
ReplyDeleteCute find! You're much braver than I am...I walked in there a few weeks ago thinking about Emily's post and I was so overwhelmed by all the graphic tees!

ReplyDeleteThe hair cut looks great, I'm in need of a major trim myself. The thing about being asian is that its so easy to look like your a young/pre teen.

What is it about leggings and boots? I'm strangely addicted. I THINK it's the comfort level mixed in with sophistication.
