Lookbook: Purple Tones

I don't tend to do a lot of tones together. I like to wear contrasting colors more often, however when I paired this purple dress with this pink-purpley cardigan, I really liked it and then to add another tone, I paired it with the reddish shoes to bring out the pink in the cardigan.

What I'm Wearing:
Cardi: Michael Stars
Dress: Forever 21
Shoes: Christian Dior
Belt: Nordstrom

As always, in love with the belt. Sometimes it's fun to add belts to things that don't really need belts. I've never seen a belt as something to hold up my pants. I see it as an accessory that adds to the outfit. With the empire waist of this dress the belt adds a nice touch to accent the higher waist. I did my hair in a side french twist and just pinned the end of the braid at the nape of my neck to hold it in place and keep the hair out of my face. My advice to do this hairstyle is to curl your hair first so that you hair has a bit of texture to hold the braid in place.

I just learned this term "FOTD" which means Face of The Day. So here is my FOTD! Come back tomorrow for the tutorial.

oooh you look so cute!!! I think the colors you chose are so complementary and the silver belt just makes everything POP! That's the perfect outfit to wear day or night!!

That's a great outfit... I think there's still contrast there - it's just that you chose hues that matched and that complement each either but the cardigan is more subtle than the dress so they work really well together. Love the belt as well... I agree it's the perfect accessory.

I love wearing monochromatic colors together. :) Tiffany, you are petite like me. Please, please PLEASE do a post about how to wear belts as well as you do. I feel like they're essential for defining a small figure, but cannot figure out how to pull it off! :)

I love the mix of colors but I really think that it you had belted the cardigan and the dress together, the look would be a little sleeker. I'm not some kind of fashion expert but the silhouette is kinda off. Love your FOTD though!

Very cute, I like how you matched the tones together. That belt look awesome, I agree that it's more of an accessory than a necessity to hold up pants! The comment about belting it around your cardigan is a good alternate idea too.

I love all the colors ...I'm not so good with that either though ...usually, it's one color and black or a neutral ...I'm trying to mix it up though. I also have a hard time mixing patterns but some do it so well. This is great on you. And your hair is adorable!

ashley.star - you are too sweet. I will try to do a post on belts and how to wear them. will try to get a few outfits together for it! thanks for the suggestion.

And all who suggested I belt over the cardigan, to be honest, it doesn't look great that way. To belt over the cardigan, the belt looks better at my natural waist and not underneath the bust. It, like Kelly pointed out, would create too much bulk. It's all about proportions! :)

Wow, I love how you combined different tones of purple! And I love the look of adding a belt to an outfit, but I have this weird problem where I totally can't digest my food when I wear anything around my waist! Oh well, I guess that's a personal problem ;)

love the dress! w/ what it's paired, it looks very expensive! i recently went dress shopping and was quite surprise of the items I found at Target. For the price of 1 dress I would've bought at a department store, I bought 4 at Target! I felt like I won the lottery! :)
