Dress: Forever 21
Skirt: Wilfred
Necklace: Banana Republic
Shoes: Franco Sarto

As I mentioned before, I tend to order things from Forever 21 online so I never really know what to expect when I get it. I ordered this dress in early spring but when I got it, it was really just too short for my taste. There never seemed to be an appropriate time to wear it so I just left it sitting in my closet. When the temps got up I spotted the dress and figured I had no other time than that day to wear it. What I did do though, to make me feel a bit more secure is to wear a slim fit skirt underneath the dress so I wouldn't feel like I might expose myself at anytime. I added the flats to keep my feet cool (I hate hot feet, that's why I never wear socks, even in the winter!) and it kept the outfit casual.
For my hair, I did a really loose braid on both sides of my hair, pulled each braid to the back of my head and secured with bobby pins. To be honest, in this kind of heat especially when you know you will be sitting in hotness all day long it takes quite an effort to look cute. It's different when you are in hot temps but know that you will be sitting in the A/C for the majority of the day but when you can't even apply makeup in your bathroom because it's sweltering in there is when that becomes a problem. But like I said before, "it's better to be hot and look cute than hot and look gross!" LOL!

love this look! all the purple ruffles in the skirt are fabulous :)
ReplyDeletei cant believe that heatwave you guys have been having...i dont think it has even hit 90 degrees here in NYC all summer. crazy!
how cute do you look. i love the purple.
ReplyDeleteThis is so true, lately I have been going into forever and everything I try on is too short...i can't figure out if I am wearing it with leggings or just gonna moon people...so I have avoided purchases
ReplyDeleteYou look adorable!
pretty dress
ReplyDeletecould you seriously be any cuter? i want to put you in my pocket and keep you with me, haha. Love the dress. :)
ReplyDeleteI almost got this dress, but it was also too short for my taste. It looks good on you!
ReplyDeleteI love that skirt. I have one just like it.
ReplyDeletePlease don't send the heat over to NYC. Do not want.
ReplyDeletelove the dress- you look super cute! :)
ReplyDeleteThis is SUCH a cute, effortless looking outfit!! I really need to get some skirts, Ive always been afraid to wear them for some reason but this looks great on you!!<3
ReplyDeleteYou look so adorable, even in a heatwave! Great outfit!
ReplyDeleteI totally hear you! Our a/c was out last week, and it was 110 degrees outside in Vegas. I almost died. It's hard to look cute in the heat, but you did a fantastic job!
ReplyDeleteAmen sister! BUT it is HOT hahaha...you look so cute! I'm so scared to order online from F21 too...ya never know!
ReplyDeleteI love your poses in these pictures! SASSY! :)
Hope you're staying cool today gorgeous! XO
the heat takes away the will to live for me... not to mention the will to look cute. you look amazing though, as always!
ReplyDeleteyou look so cute...it is so hot here, but at least we all do have AC! I always have that happen with F21...and I am short so I have no idea how scandalous they must be on tall people!
ReplyDeleteso loving the straight skirt under flirty short dresses!! It reminds me of a gingham bubble dress that I had when I was a kid that had the skirt attached ...i effing loved it.
ReplyDeleteI love this look on you! ...cute with leggings/blazer/boots in the winter too!
Omg you are so adorable!! I seriously doubt it's possible for you to look gross ;) I love the colors of that dress. haha maybe I'm a scandalous person but it doesn't look that short in this photo!
ReplyDeleteThat's so true about Forever 21's dresses... sometimes they're just too short.. and I'm tall so when I order I always find them just sitting in my closet... but you're idea is great! I would have never thought of that... what I do a lot of times is just wear leggings... but in the summer it's too hot to do that... sooo thanks for the idea!!!
ReplyDeleteso cute!! love the sandals with that dress! you look perfect! EEEKK that is really hot!!
ReplyDeletethis is so cute. I love it! all the heat of the NY summers went out west to you. it's been unseasonably cool here all summer...usually we complain about the humidity but I'm finding that I actually miss it. it's just been raining and in the 70s and low 80s...
ReplyDeletethis outfit is so great...definitely perfect for a hot hot hot summer day.
and btw, no AC...even though it's not so hot here we would pass out without AC...it's unbearable inside apt buildings.
love the colors in the dress. thought it was a skirt with a tank at first!
ReplyDeleteokay, i see. a little dress underneath the skirt. sorry, i got it now;)
ReplyDeleteI know, the hot weather here in Seattle has been crazy!!! Record-breaking even ( :
ReplyDeleteIt takes more effort to look cute. Which, by the way, you do.
ew! you are having horrible hot weather like us! blech!
ReplyDeletebut you have dressed perfectly for it. love it! and love the skirt under a skirt idea! skirts are so DANGEROUS! especially in windy areas and on stairs!
I'm lovin the Wilfred skirt! If i had the funds I'd buy an entire wardrobe from Aritzia :)
ReplyDeleteThat's my problem with F21, always so short!
ReplyDeleteI order most of everything online too. It's a roll of the dice but it turned out perfectly in the case of that dress!
ReplyDeletessooo adorable...!!!
ReplyDeletei think it looks cute! maybe you can wear a little black lace shorts underneath. i saw one at american apparel that would go perfectly :)

you always look classy in everything you wear. pretty!
ReplyDeleteYou look absolutely amazing! Love the print on that skirt and the sandals are perfect for super hot weather. YAY!
ReplyDeleteEeek! I love the dress! And I love the dress on you! You look gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteAnd how very clever, to put an additional skirt under. I've been really into slips lately. It's funny- I would never wear them until I suddenly started to, and it's like a whole new world. They poof out skirts, give shape to dresses, and add an extra layer of protection in case of accidental exposure.
I'm sorry you're getting hit with the heat. You an always send some my way- it's been a freakishly cool and wet summer here in Colorado and I AM OVER IT. I WANT SUN AND HEAT!
Gorgeous, darling! That skirt is amazing!

SO sick of Forever 21 and their mini's!! I had the perfect dress picked out for a wedding, but when I tried it on it barely covered my bum! No thanks, totally inappropriate. I find that it's hard to pick outfits that are cute and hot weather appropriate. It's so easy to just throw on a tube top and shorts, but you have shown that you can look chic while it's 100 degrees outside. Great outfit! (I hate socks, too. I don't even wear them in the winter and everyone thinks I'm crazy)
ReplyDeleteWow you look gorgeous! i love that skirt of yours!
ReplyDeleteTiffany, you look gorgeous! That skirt is bea-u-ti-ful!!! LOL, I had to think of that one and convert to celsius, my, that is hot!
ReplyDeleteI wanted to thank you for your sweet, kind words :) LOL, wouldn't it me funny if I'm being completely paranoid and he was just saying to his buddy that he'd like to "go eat something"!
Oh, I love that you sound like her too! We should do a vlog and find someone who sounds like Mickey!!! Dapper Kid maybe? I don't know why I envision that - I guess cause he's always so sweet in his comments. He probably has the deepest voice ever, LOL.
p.s. thank you for following, now I can see that infectious smile! Oh and I hope you know I was already following ;)
great top...skirts okay

I love your hair. I agree, its way harder to look nice hot weather. Unfortunately its been raining in London all day, so you're lucky you have some sun.
ReplyDeleteI don't know if I'm the only one experiencing it, but I can't see the photos. They aren't showing up. Instead there's just one of those blue boxes with a question mark. This has been happening for a few posts.
ReplyDeleteP.S. Thank you for the comment on my blog, Tiffany!
wow u look fantastic
ReplyDeletethis is the cutest outfit
ReplyDeleteyou look gorgeous
Lovely outfit as always!
ReplyDeleteI really like the way you did your hair! I was surprised to see you wearing a forever21 dress that I own in this lookbook because of all the designer shoes that you were in your other lookbooks. The fitted skirt was a cute idea, but you shouldn't have to worry about skirt lengths since I think we are about the same height lol.
