The other day my husband and I went to the Georgetown neighborhood of Seattle to have lunch at Smarty Pants (best sandwiches ever.) and noticed the interesting details and buildings in the area. We couldn’t resist a little photoshoot while we were there so I thought I’d post a few pictures for a little change from my typical lookbooks. As much as I love being a photographer and feel that I am fairly good at directing my subjects, I am not too good on the other side of the camera as my poses and facial expressions are anything but natural. So please excuse the model, but at least the photographer did a great job! I am certainly no Rumi of Fashion Toast. This is why I have to stick to my usual hand on hip, big cheesy grin lookbooks! 🙂
I loaded up on the accessories much more than I usually do but I just wanted to have fun with the outfit. I probably could’ve taken off at least one accessory but some days I like to just pile it on. I tend to wear a lot more classic accessories, like a diamond pendant, pearl necklace, my classic Rolex but lately I’ve been buying lots of statement jewelry and have been trying to incorporate them into my outfits. I just bought this Nixon watch on a whim while I was out shopping one day and hadn’t worn it yet. That pop of pink is just so shocking and unexpected, so I can’t wear it with everything but nice to have that pop of color once in awhile. You can’t really see the bag but I must mention that the Jet Setter Jr. is one of my favorite handbags ever. I have it in this silver and black, it holds so much stuff and is just a great looking bag! The leather is also buttery soft.
I will say this again and again but I love these shoes. They are so different from my typical shoe style and surprisingly quite comfortable! Gwen Stefani sure knows how to make some hot shoes! (although I’m sure she’s not the one actually designing the shoe, so whoever is the designer, you are awesome! 🙂
I think most of us know Monica from her blog Ciao Chessa! and I’m so happy to have her as one of my sponsors. Since the day I found Monica’s blog I’ve not only been in awe of her photography but of how genuine she is. Every email and comment I’ve gotten from Monica is so thoughtful and genuine and I feel like her photography is the same. I can feel all sorts of emotions when looking at her photography, I hope to one day be in New York at the same time that her work is being displayed at a gallery so I can see them in person. But, the great part is, Monica sells her prints on her Etsy shop so we all can have a little piece of her amazing talent in our own homes!
My name is Monica Shulman and I am a corporate dropout and professional photographer based out of NY. I left my career as a corporate lawyer to focus on my photography. Chessa is my childhood nickname and my much bolder and less shy alter-ego:) I’m a fine art photographer specializing in street and travel photography and I opened up my Etsy shop, Ciao, Chessa! to sell my small format open edition work. I also sell a few of the small format images that are in limited editions and occasionally I sell large format prints there, as well.
Also check out Monica’s work at her website monicashulman.com, I spent an hour last night just looking through all the pictures, they are all so amazing!
