Bling, Bling

One of my most searched terms on my blog is "engagement ring". Every Sunday I get a report sent to me about the search words on my blog and that is always the top search. I'm not quite sure why, but if my readers are searching for it then I figured I should write a post about it. I don't actually have a full post on my rings so when people search for it, they can at least see something!

We rented a macro lens a few weeks ago so I played around with our rings. They're sitting in a bowl of brown rice, we didn't have anything nearby that was more pretty that would actually hold the rings up.

My husband's ring is black jade with our last name engraved in Japanese Kanji. When we were looking at wedding rings, he just wasn't into the traditional rings for men so that's why we went with something completely different. It looks really nice on and he gets a lot of comments on it. It really is one of a kind! We had David Lin of TS Lin create it for us. Because it's so thick, he can't wear it every day, so we went and got him this Tiffany & Co ring to wear when he can't wear the jade one.

My ring is a 4 prong set with a half eternity band and pave diamonds all on the sides (like the flat side that people don't see). Both bands are shared setting full eternity bands.

This is how I wear it, with the two bands sandwiching the engagement ring. If you are looking for engagement/wedding rings and want two bands like me, I suggest going the route that I did and have the engagement ring be half eternity so that the three rings aren't so squished on the bottom side of your finger. It makes it a lot more comfortable. I also suggest going up a .5 size for all 3 rings so they all sit on your finger comfortably as it does get a bit tighter with the 3 bands.

(can you tell what it's sitting on? My blue Dior heels!)

When we first got engaged I had a classic 6 prong Tiffany & Co. solitaire ring but when we saw this setting, my husband (fiance at the time) wanted to upgrade it and then he suggested the two bands, so really he picked it all out for me. I only had diamond specifications, I was pretty picky about the cut, color and clarity. I just really wanted a super sparkly ring so I was there when he picked out the diamond and I definitely got what I wanted.

Sometimes I play around with my rings and just wear the two bands on my left hand and the engagement ring on my right hand or vice versa or just one band with my engagement ring. It's kind of fun to mix things up but mainly I wear it with the 3 stacked on top of each other. A lot of people are curious about my two bands and why I got them but really no reason, just that we think it balances out nicely.

Anyway, not the most exciting post but there you go, that's what I wear on my finger every day!

  2. Holy moly, your ring is beautiful! I love it. And I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one that plays around with my rings- I opted to leave my rings separate (not have them put together...oh, the word escapes me right now, but you know) because sometimes I just like wearing the engagement ring by itself or the band by itself. A girl has to have options, right? Right.

I love your Husband's ring, too. One of these days, I should blog about my Hubby's ring and how he insisted on getting married in a $3 ring he found in a souvenir shop with my name on it, LOL.

  3. You rings are totally gorgeous...one of my favorite settings/combos that I have ever seen!

J's ring is crazy cool...I adore that idea! (the Japanese in me thinks that it is even more amazing!!). I can't wait to show my husband, I know that he will think it's awesome too!

  4. I love your hubby's ring! Totally cool and different. I also love that you have the extra band- I am looking for a "spacer" ring for mine because I love the look of 3 rings. Plus, it gives it that much more oomph and sparkle! Your rings are just gorgeous!!

  18. I love your rings. I also mix and match mine. I wear my engagement ring every day and wear my wedding band only occasionally (it actually looks a lot like yours, but vintage). Your husband's rings also rock. I expected as much given your impeccable style!

  20. I love the look of two eternity bands with your engagement ring. I keep going back and forth on whether or not I want to get a second eternity band to sandwich my engagement ring... but there is a bit of a sizeable gap between my wedding band and my engagement ring because my 3-stone engagement ring is low-set. I don't want to get it re-set higher at the time being since I'm a scientist and wear gloves all day and it's relatively uncomfortable as is... but I do love the look of two eternity bands. Maybe when I'm the big boss of the lab someday and I'm not actually doing the benchwork because I have lots of people working under me I'll get my ring reset and get a second eternity band to go with it. :)

  23. Gorgeous ring. I am going back and forth about ring setting. I think I am going to settle on the Tiffany Bezet setting. If I change my mind one more time, BF will sure go banana. It is harder than I thought to pick out the rock and ring.

  31. I love your rings! I have two bands and an engagement ring and i tell people it's because i had two weddings (court and a destination one), the truth is i just like the way it looked stacked. You can use that excuse too because you technically had two weddings as well!

  33. i wanted to ask you the carat weight of the eternity bands, i keep on buying them online and somehow its always too big or too small.Your band seem the right size so if you would kindly let me know the weight of it.
    Thank you

    ReplyDelete
  34. Prashna - actually I would advise you to go to a jeweler and get it from there. The carat weight actually depends on your finger size because the diamonds have to be fit all the way around, they pick the right size diamonds that will fit as a band. My ring size is a 3.5 so the total carat weight will probably be different if your ring size is bigger or smaller than mine. And I actually don't know the carat weight. I have the paperwork but have never looked.

  37. my mom told me that having 3 wedding ring means "i love you for eternity" so each ring is "i" "love" "you" and for short with just your engagment ring its love for eternity since the ring itself symbolizes eternity and with a never ending circle
o ps i think we all search for your rings b/c you talk about it in some of your blogs and we wanna see what kinda ring a stylish person likeyou would wear :)
