Billy’s Birthday Mission – please help!

My brother is a genuinely kind and warm-hearted person and you will rarely meet someone who is less selfish than he is. I am in awe of all he has done in the past few years (He recently came back from Peru where he was helping build schools) and am so so proud of him. His birthday was on Friday and instead of having a big party with his friends, he decided that he would rather donate his time, in order to raise money for the Haiti earthquake relief. In exchange for a monetary donation to a charity of your choice (his is doctors without borders) you can ask him do to something for you.

From Billy’s website:

I will do anything (within reason) to get you to donate. Anything.

If that doesn’t make sense, here are the 3 easy steps:

  1. Answer this question: What can Billy do for me that will get me to donate to Haitian earthquake relief? (Or if you already have donated or were already planning to, what can I do to get you to donate more?)
  2. Tell Billy what you want, how much you’re going to donate and to where*
  3. After I agree, donate your money

*You can give to whatever charity/NPO you’d like, as long as its related to Haitian earthquake relief. Any money given to me will be donated to Doctors Without Borders. I highly recommend you donate to them though 🙂

Essentially, if you donate any amount of money, I will match you with a combination of my own money, time and energy.

Click here to read more about why he is doing this and he offers suggestions of what he can do for you.

In less than 24 hours Billy raised over $2,500 and his new goal is $5,000. I would love to help him reach that goal and am asking you to just click on over to Billy’s Birthday Mission to read his message and donate if you can. If you can pass the word to your friends and family as well, that would be greatly appreciated. The earthquake has been a sad and tragic event but lets try to come together to help put some good into it and help out those who need it the most.

I know that a lot of you may not feel comfortable in asking my brother to do something so I am offering something of my own. If you donate over $20, I will send you one of my prints for free in any size up to 8×10. Click on over to my flickr to see all of my pictures, you can choose from any but if you need help choosing here are my favorite pictures. This even includes past clients, if you donate, I will send you a print from your session, your choice.

If you donate over $100 and you live in Seattle or plan on coming to Seattle, I will offer you a free 2 hour photoshoot. It can be an engagement shoot, a family shoot or even a pet shoot, or even if you just want me to be there for 2 hours on your wedding day! I quite honestly feel bad about this but will have to limit the photo sessions to 2 more spots left. We had a great response and we want to make sure that we have the time to fulfill all the donations. I really appreciate everyone’s generosity!

If you’d like to hire us for your wedding day, we can negotiate a rate with a part of it going to charity.

Please contact me before donating so I can let my brother know how much is being donated for this mission. And so we can discuss the details of what you would like.

If there is anything else that I can do to help you donate just let me know. The devastation in Haiti is heartbreaking and J and I are donating as much as we can to help them out and Billy has put in a lot of time and effort into his mission which has already made a difference. Please do what you can even if that just means passing this message along on your blog or facebooking/twittering about.

Thank you and much love to everyone reading this!

update: I forgot to add that he is taking donations until the end of January. I will place the order for my prints on February 1 so I can do them all at once and will send them out soon after!

    Thanks for posting this Tiff!

Just wanted to reach out to your readers and ask that they share this post or my website with their own networks, if possible (via Twitter/Facebook/Email/Work message boards). If you can't donate, just passing on the message is equally, if not more valuable. I'm running out of people to reach out to, so I need as much help as I can get.

    Thanks everyone!

    P.S. I'm less than $100 from reaching $5,000!!

i'm a certified wardrobe stylist and frequently look for fashion blogs to follow. everywhere i look i never see anything new, just cookie cutter styles that are straight out of every magazine. i just stumbled across yours and really loved looking through your lookbook. i'm in love with the bow/scarf idea. i became a follower and can't wait to read more!

What a great idea! Kudos to you and your brother. I will likely donate to Doctors Without Borders, and I will probably take advantage of your offer for a print (I love your shoe and jewelry pics!).

I'll be in touch this weekend to let you know for certain, and I'll probably link to you and Billy from my blog too.
