Makeup Tutorial: Lots of Liner

I get lots of requests for makeup tutorials and I would love to do them more, but the posts take up a lot more time. I also often forget to do a close up picture of my makeup so can't really do one without it! I took a picture of my makeup on the same day from my Miss Four Eyes post with the intention of a makeup tutorial and then I kinda decided that I wasn't going to post about it. But then, a reader wrote to me requesting my makeup for that day! So perfect timing... I swear you all know me too well :)

Here's the look...

So, to start off, I always wash my face, moisturize and put on eye cream before any makeup goes on.

"The Base"

Okay so I have to say that the above picture is not the best as I have super dark circles underneath my eyes but that was a few days after I got back from Hong Kong and the jet lag had gotten to me so I was not sleeping at all. Otherwise, my under eye circles are quite under control because of this product.

Bare Escentuals Precision Concealer Brush

Always use the concealer brush to apply to the eye and then use your ring finger to blend (it's the "weakest" finger so will do the least amount of damage to the eye)

Neutrogena SkinClearing Oil-Free Makeup

I started using this foundation awhile ago when I was going through a bad skin phase hoping that it would clear up my skin. Well, it actually did! I've used so many high end department store brand foundations but nothing has worked as well for me as this foundation. It goes on smooth, has great coverage and not too cakey.

Estée Lauder Powder Foundation Brush

I never really had a great way to apply foundation until I tried the big fluffy brush and it's changed my skin! I've tried using my fingers, a sponge, or a flat brush but the big fluffy brush is the only thing that evens out the foundation perfectly. If some spots don't get blended as well (usually near my nose) than I just use my fingers to smooth it out. Apply the foundation directly to the brush and then dot it on all over the face.

bareMinerals Loose Foundation

I've been a fan of Bare Minerals for a few years now. I use this just to set the foundation and this lasts throughout the day, I never have to powder my face during the day.
Bare Escentuals Full Coverage Kabuki Brush

I prefer to use the Kabuki brush to apply the Bare Minerals powder. It seems to go on a lot more evenly for me.

The Eyes:

Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion
If you don't own this product, go buy it now and thank me later. This is the best product ever for eye makeup. It is just a fantastic base and holds onto your eye makeup. I can go through the entire day and never retouch my eye makeup because of this product.

Long-wear Gel Eyeliner - Bobbi Brown

For this look, after I applied the Primer Potion, I put this gel eyeliner on my upper eyeline. I winged it out a little bit on the sides but not too much.

It's crucial to have the right tools especially when doing your eyes so I really like this angled brush when using gel eyeliners. I also use this brush for powder eyeliners.

LORAC Starry-Eyed Baked Eyeshadow Trio

I used this trio for the rest of my eye look.
Using a small angled brush, apply the darkest color to the outer corner of my eyes.
Using a little bit of a larger brush I put the bronze color in the inner corners and blend to the dark color.
Using a fluffy blush, use the lightest color to blend all the colors together and above your eyelid, stop right before the brow bone.

Urban Decay 24/7 Glide on Eye Pencil, Zero
Apply this eyeliner to the bottom of your eye, as close to your eyeline/waterline as possible.

Bobbi Brown Ultra Fine Eyeliner Brush
Using this small brush, dab a little bit of black eye shadow on top of the eyeliner that you just applied above.

Urban Decay Brow Box
Fill in the brows with this brow powder to create a defined brow.

Shu Uemura Eyelash Curler
The best eyelash curler ever...

Dior diorshow iconic extreme waterproof
After curling apply this waterproof mascara. I've always been a fan of waterproof mascara as it seems to hold curl a lot more than non-waterproof and it never leaves dark mark underneath your eyes.

The rest:

bareMinerals Blush
A bit of blush all over the apples of the cheeks. I apply it pretty heavy in the morning because by mid-afternoon it's pretty much gone and just the right hint of blush shows up for the rest of the day.

Bare Escentuals Angled Blush Brush
Use this brush for an easier way to apply to the cheeks.

bareMinerals 100 Percent Natural Lipgloss Cupcake
Use a good pinky-nude color for the perfect lipgloss.
