Lookbook: Wedges

First lookbook back from Jamaica and you can tell I got a bit of a tan! 🙂 I very rarely wear wedges, I’m just more of a stiletto kind of girl. Wedges are kind of big and clunky to me and I feel a bit like Frankenstein. But here I am wearing wedges!

What I’m Wearing:
Blazer: La Rok
Dress: C&C California
Wedges: Cynthia Vincent for Target
Necklaces: Vintage & DIY
Bracelet: Kate Gray Designs

I also rarely buy “cheap” shoes (I know “cheap” is a relative term so my version of “cheap” may not be everyone’s version of “cheap”). As you can see from my shoe collection, I’m a bit of a designer shoe whore and for good reason as any cheap shoes that I’ve bought have always been terrible to my feet and my cost per wear for cheap shoes are worse than a pair of Louboutins. I’d much rather spend $600 on a pair of shoes that I will wear often than $100 on a pair of shoes that I’ll wear twice (which I’ve done many times). However, when I saw all over blogland these Cynthia Vincent for Target wedges, I kind of fell in love with them and really, $30 for a pair of shoes was worth the risk. I got both the black and the yellow and let me tell you how surprised I was by how comfortable these are! I’m actually amazed. I’m still not a wedge type of person but when the need comes for comfortable shoes that give me height, I’m reaching for these!

I’ve been really into looking for vintage jewelry lately and found this really neat black and gold chain. I also found a couple of earrings to turn into rings and when I went to the craft store to buy jewelry glue, I came across these gold chains (the longer necklace I’m wearing) and I had no clue what to do with them but I liked them so bought them. Anyway, I ended up tying a ribbon to the end to create an easy DIY. The best part is that you can just tie the ribbon at any point in the chain so you can create how long or short you want it. I think the chains cost like $3 so a super easy and super cheap project!

The bracelet (the big group of chains that you see in the above picture) is by Kate Gray Designs and I LOVE it. I get compliments every where I go when I wear this piece. She put together a mix of vintage and new chains and made it into the most perfect bracelet. I seriously am wearing this with everything. I’ve bought another bracelet from her that I love, I totally recommend checking out her shop, her designs with the mix of vintage pieces are fantastic!

Shop the Lookbook:

La Rok blazer

C&C California tank dress

Cynthia Vincent for Target gladiator wedge

They only have this color left in stock online but limited sizes.

You could also get the expensive version of these from her regular price line. I’m tempted to get them just to see the difference in comfort! I do like the buckles better on this version.

Cynthia Vincent Mason buckle wedge

She does make quite a few cute wedges. They all look perfect for the summer.

Kate Gray Designs – silver chain bracelet

She’s out of my gold one but still available in silver!

I’m sure that all of you are as excited as I am for the new Sex and the City movie! I was asked by BlogHer about how my relationships relate to Sex and the City, come on over to read what I wrote and please leave a comment as I would love to hear about how you relate as well!

I'm all about wedges for summer '10. Love the Cynthia Vincent ones, but haven't found them in my area. The ones you linked to are available still in my size . . .oh, so tempting . . .

I'm the opposite – love wedges and prefer them to stilettos. Those cognac CV's are in stock in my size… to buy or not to buy 😛

I am quite the opposite, I think I prefer wedges! So comfortable, and I love the chunky look. Those Cynthia's from Target are great, they were sold out but I got 3 pairs of the flats which are amazing! Hope you had a fantastic trip 🙂 xxSAS

I once bought a pair of Old Navy wedges that I wore twice. They smelled terrible when they came out of the box — like toxic plastic– and they stretched out after the first time I wore them. So much for my venture into cheap fashion!

You look great in this lookbook! I love the blazer, the shoes, and that jewelry! I saw the CV wedges and thought they were way too high for me to walk in (but of course they are nothing for you). They look great for just $30!

I just posted about these wedges yesterday! I didn't even know the black ones existed! Aren't they comfy!?!? And after looking at her more expensive line, I feel like I still got a quality shoe!

These are sooooo gorgeous–I'm super jealous that you snagged 'em! I blogged about the color patterned CV's for Target a few weeks go–I miraculously found them in my size (last ones too!). These are super hard to find, but I'm glad to hear they're worth the search!

I am with you on cost per wear. It is better to buy something more expensive and wear it all the time than something cheaper and use it only once or twice. I learned it the hard way via lots of donations…. : (

Breanne – get them! you won't regret it 🙂

Kristin – oh boo! I actually got mine online, I don't live near a Target so when I finally get to one, everything good has been long gone.

Ashley – yup, not a wedge lover, but a few have snuck into my shoe closet from time to time. LOL

God's Favorite Shoes – You are right, I totally feel like these wedges are still great quality! Target did a great job producing these.

Savvy gal – haha, I learned the same lesson as well. My goodwill definitely gets brand new items from my donations! 🙂

Must be nice to be so rich that $30 shoes are beneath you! I can't wait to get to that point since $30 shoes are all I can afford at this point. Le sigh.

Those shoes are so cute! What size did you get in them? I wear a 5 as well, so I'm hoping I could do 5.5 in them (darn 5s are so hard to find as I'm sure you know!).

I love your DIY! It perfectly matches that cool bracelet. And the wedges look great although I agree that the pricier version has cuter buckles.

Since I've become pregnant wedges have been a regular in my wardrobe. They seem to be easier for me to balance in them than stilletos. Those are cute!

alvina – they only had a 5.5 (I'm not sure they even made a 5) so I got the 5.5 and they fit fine. I think it helps that it's all buckled so it keeps your foot in really well.

I really wanted those wedges in yellow but I couldn't find them at any targets in my area! I did get the ethnic print wedge though, and they are so comfortable!
