Okay, finally my review of the eyelash extensions! It's been a few weeks now and I can honestly say that they are so worth it. I absolutely love that I can wake up, put on a little powder, blush and lipgloss and I'm ready to go. On the days that I do my eye makeup (which realistically is almost every day) my eyes are that much more dramatic without having to deal with all the eyelash maintenance that I used to do. (Curling lashes, putting on false lashes, million coats of mascara) It is such a time saver and they seriously look so real that I've gotten so many "wow, your eyelashes are so long!" compliments that I should probably start making a commission on how many people I've convinced to get lash extensions :)
Here's my makeup free eyes before the extensions. (see those freckles creeping up on my face from the sun? Ugh. I need freckle remover, stat.) My lashes have always have a good bit of length to them but the problem was that they were never full enough. With the lash extensions it definitely filled them out and added a good amount of length.

And here is an "after" shot! Obviously, full make up on here but as you can see it makes my eyes that much more dramatic.

Oh one thing to know, one of the first steps was that my esthetician had to tape down my bottom lashes so that the glue wouldn't stick to them and at the end of the process when she pulled off that tape - OUCH! I wanted to cry. I did actually tear up a bit. It hurt! But that's the only part of the process that was painful.
I went to Lady Lam on a recommendation from a friend. She is absolutely fantastic and very professional. We had a consultation about how I wanted my lashes to look. I told her that I wanted long and full but still wanted them to look real. She showed me examples of her clients with long, dramatic lashes and other clients with shorter but still full lashes. I definitely wanted the long lashes as I'm used to wearing false lashes so didn't mind the dramatic look. It's great that she takes your tastes into consideration so she knows what lashes to apply on you. I highly recommend that you check out her website for more examples of lash extensions and she also has a great FAQ on them.
I'm going to get my refill this week and will probably keep them on for at least another month or so. I know many of you have been waiting for this review so thanks for your patience! I hope that this helps you decide if you'd like to get them for yourself.

Fabulous post...lovely blog! Great style...
ReplyDeleteWow, this is really interesting. I didn't really know these services existed. If anyone asks me where to go I will send them to this post. It's nice to have this option.
ReplyDeleteSO FUNN! And they look great!

ReplyDeleteI did a post on lash extensions back in November (http://beautifulthingsdiary.blogspot.com/2009/11/extreme-lashes.html); I've had them on since then but I'm now in the process of removing them and it has been HELL. My real lashes are destroyed but I was told it will take about 2 months for them to come back like they did before the extensions. I, like you, got compliments almost every day and love the convenience of them but after 7 months my lashes needed to breathe. I'm still considering having them for my wedding next year, they just look so much more natural than falsies!
ReplyDeleteOoh! Very nice Tiffany! I did get them a couple years ago, but they never told me about the oil-free make-up remover or getting them wet the first week. Honestly they didn't last very long on me, and I think because she didn't tape down the bottom lashes, they would get stuck to each other. In the mornings, I'd wake up to find a few more twisted into weird directions. I think it was a bad application combined with case of twisting and turning in bed. I wish I could keep extensions, but I think I'm not careful enough with them. I love how long yours are. Very natural looking indeed!

I love it!! I have such trouble with false lashes! These look great!!
ReplyDeleteCan I recommend Latisse? I am Asian and used to have the shortest, thinnest eyelashes on the planet. I have been using Latisse since February and I will never go back! My eyelashes are now naturally as long as your "after" pics with the extensions and I still can't stop admiring my lashes whenever I pass a mirror. LOL. No pain when you pull off the falsies and you can rub your lashes as much as you want! There are potentional side effects (turning your irises brown, but we already have brown eyes), redness and irritation, but neither I nor anyone I know suffer from any of those. Just mile-long natural lashes! I can't recommend Latisse enough!
ReplyDeleteThey look amazing! I've been curious about eyelash extension. Would definitely give them a try now if I had something special coming up :)
ReplyDeleteWow, they look great! I've been using Latisse and I've gotten the length but the not volume. This is a great alternative.
ReplyDeleteSo do you still wear mascara on top of them, or just rock them on their own? Since I have lighter lashes, I get them dyed a few times a year, but still wear mascara on top of them. I'd LOVE to try out some kind of extensions!
ReplyDeletei really wanna try these. i've heard great things about li lash
ReplyDeleteLynn- good to know! I don't plan on keeping them any longer than after my next refill so hopefully my lashes will be a little better off.
ReplyDeleteSpicy Mama - I have contemplated using Latisse next. Thanks for your recommendation, it does seem to be a great product.
Hannah - no mascara is needed. The extensions themselves are very dark so you don't really need to do anything to them.
D&D - my sister uses Li Lash and her lashes are super long! I was looking for more volume than length so that's why I went with the extensions but Li Lash is definitely good for length.
I was thinking of getting some...my lashes are fairly long but I want them longer. Thanks for your feedback on your experience...check out my blog

They look great and so natural! Like you, I have length, but not volume and have been pondering extensions. How much did yours cost? I'm afraid that the cost + potential damage to my natural lashes will deter me forever.
ReplyDeleteWhat a helpful review, Tiffany! I have been thinking about lashes for my upcoming wedding. Definitely something to think about now. :)
ReplyDeleteThey look so great and natural! My gf gets them done every 3 weeks or so and I am always admiring how gorgeous her eyes are!
ReplyDeletemy friend did it and her eyes looked so good. she only said she had to wash face more carefully with these extension.
ReplyDeleteThey look fabulous ..I've often thought of them as well ...but can you not use mascara at all? My eyelashes are light so I wonder if you would see the difference? Or maybe they dye them? I dunno ..I love it though. YOu look fabulous! ...especially in that purple!
ReplyDeleteMaegan - you can still wear mascara. I just choose not to because I don't want to deal with taking the mascara off at night. The extensions are black though, so when attached to your real lashes, I'm not sure how much of your real lashes you'd be able to see.
ReplyDeleteWow, these look great, very natural and I'm impressed that they lasted as long! I am an eye rubber due to bad allergies (Austin is famous for bad allergies,) so they may not be for me, but I think I'd go for it I were going to travel back home...thanks for the review!
ReplyDeleteLove this post! I posted on my blog not too long ago about my extensions and I'm honestly hooked! Such effortless beauty :)

ReplyDeleteTiffany you should scrap the extensions and try Revitalash. I've been using it for 3 years now and the results are amazing!! Your eyelashes grow at least 1/3 longer and fuller as well. When you put on mascara it looks like you have extensions on. It's less expensive and its ezy pezy to apply.

**Then you get an eyelash tint and eyelash perm.. and POW! you have some sexy make up free 24-7 lashes to die for..**
My friends know me for whipping out the false lashes every now and then! I've always died for lash extensions, but can't rationalize the cost. Aren't they around 200 some dollars? Your lashes look so glamorous! I'm jealous!
ReplyDeleteI just got false lashes and they look great but they are super uncomfortable and itchy!
ReplyDeleteHi. thanks a lot for this review. I have thin eyelashes and I really want to make my eyes more attractive without using cosmetics that contain harmful chemicals. I also don't want to wear false eyelashes. thanks! this helps.. :)
ReplyDeleteHey! I'm about to get my very first eyelash extentions in two weeks and I found your blog when googling on eyelash extention styles. Can I ask you what "curl style" they used on you; J, B, C or D curl? How about the length? I really like how yours come out! I'm sooo excited!! Thanx!
ReplyDeleteYour eyelashes look amazing
