I previously mentioned that I was one of the 31 bloggers participating in The Society Stylist’s “Little Black Dress Experiment” and here is my look!
My husband edited and put together this collage that’s why it’s a million times better than my usual lookbook posts! |
Ann Taylor sent over this dress for all the LBD bloggers and when I first got it I have to admit that I wasn’t exactly excited over it. The fit was a little bit off and unflattering for my shape. I made a few adjustments, unbuttoned the buttons, pulled the collar down and hemmed the dress up a few inches. The tweed jacket was a good complement to the dress as I was going for a classy and modern look. I just love the stud details on the jacket. I don’t shop at H&M often but I think this jacket is my best find there! If you can’t tell, this was a bit Seattle themed with the Space Needle in the background and all the Seattle signage. The gray cloudy day really added to the authenticity of it! August usually isn’t this gray, I promise, we usually have such beautiful sunny summers. Not sure what’s going on here but I don’t like it!
I have loved the Diana ring from Wendy Brandes forever and when she had a sale I decided that I had to have it. It’s perfect and beautiful and a lovely every day piece. BTW, she’s having her last sale of the summer soon, check out her blog for the details.
Make sure to stop by the Society Stylist to see the rest of the bloggers and how they styled their LBD!
Ann Taylor has also provided a special coupon code for The Little Black Dress Experiment! Click here to save 20% on all purchases of $100 or more.
OMG, I just saw these zip back pumps. SEXAAY!
If you don’t already read WendyB’s blog, you gotta. She’s hilarious and I learn something new every time I read her posts!
DISCLOSURE: All bloggers involved in the LBDE are participating voluntarily and no one is being financially compensated for their involvement. I will note however that each blogger is being provided the Ann Taylor dress to style for her look as well as a number of gifts from the sponsors to include in her look or review separately, during the month of August. As with the rest of my posts, any items I receive for free in any look is noted as “gift from…” This in no way affects my review or opinions stated on my blog.

August 13, 2010 at 4:18 pmYou look fab! And you're right, that ring is marvy!
But I am intrigued by the zippers you mentioned on the pumps… I am sad there is no back view of the heels.
Regardless, you did a great job! And way to go on the tailoring! You really made the dress work for you, not the other way around.
Love, P

You totally pulled the look together wonderfully!!! I have the same H&M jacket but haven't worn it yet. You gave me a great idea on how to wear it. Thanks!

August 14, 2010 at 8:03 amLove the jacket! I think the dress would've looked better if you had folded the neck area into a "collar" and then ironed over it to make a "v" shape.
