It’s the little things

Thanks for all your sweet comments/messages yesterday!  You all know how to cheer a girl up.  It’s really nothing too dramatic but it does affect me and my job which is not the best feeling in the world but hey, do what you gotta do right?  (I’m not losing my job or anything but just a lot sh*t that’s going down right now).

Since I’ve been traveling for the past four weeks I was in desperate need of some pampering time.  I specifically scheduled it so that I wouldn’t have to travel this week, so last week I scheduled all my beauty treatments for Monday and Tuesday.  I got a facial, massage, lash refill (hello full lashes! I love them.) and a haircut.  Then I did my own mani and pedi and now feel like I’m all shiny and new!  I seriously feel so much better.  I was talking to a co-worker who I was traveling with and telling her just how excited I was to get my haircut and that it was just the little things that can make me so happy and she totally agreed.

Do you guys feel the same?  What is your “little thing” that can make you happy when you’re down or stressed?

My usual stress relievers (Macho and Savvy) are visiting their grandparents and are not coming back until Saturday so I’ve been doggy-less for a few weeks now.  I’m super excited to see them!  And my in-laws of course 🙂

My little stress buster, Savvy.  I love putting bows on her.  I found this ribbon and fashioned a bow headband for her.  She doesn’t mind, she gets a treat every time her silly mom puts her in a ridiculous outfit or headband 🙂
Here are some of my other “little things” that I’ve recently aquired that I’m absolutely loving and had to share. (click on the pictures to take you to the product/site)

This gel liner has been the best gel liner I’ve used and trust me, I’ve tried out a lot!  I’m loving this blue.  It’s really blue in the container but comes out more of a pretty dark royal blue.  It lasts all day and goes on really well.

The perfect fall nail colors!  I love Essie’s newest collection and can’t wait to wear all of the colors this fall.

I finally got my hands on the coveted Naked Palette!  I put my name on the waiting list and when I got the email that it was back in stock I ordered it within 2 seconds of getting the email!

My other Revas are still wearable but looking a bit old so I treated myself to a new pair and got these navy ones.  Out of all my flats, even my more expensive ones from Louboutin and Prada, these are still the most comfortable!
Cupcakes!  Guess what? It’s my birthday tomorrow!!  I’m really not a “big” birthday person and like to have multiple low key dinners throughout the week rather than one big blowout party but something that I can not live without on my birthday is some kind of cake and this year I chose Cupcake Royale, my favorite cupcakes in Seattle!  So yummy!  Their special flavor of the month is Blue Mountain Huckleberry.  It looks so good, I can’t wait to try it!

Happy Birthday Tiffany! Man, I totally know what you mean about the "shiny and new" thing. Going to the hair salon is what always perks me back up after a sh*tstorm. 🙂

And puppies! My brother's Aussie and Eskimo are my beloved babies that I love to pop by and snuggle with after a bad day.

Happy early birthday dear! Hope J treats you extra well with some extra goodies!

When I'm super busy and feeling a little down, something as little as a polish change will cheer me up. The place I go to will throw in a little hand massage and it give me the pampering/perk up I need to rally and keep on going. I totally agree…it's the little things!!

My little thing is definitely cooking/baking it releases all the stress I carry inside, and shopping is other infalible stress/pain healer … but when the damage is done and it's time to pay up, I get stressed again lol … But it is true getting dolled up, and having some "me" time helps you feel beautiful and better inside… Loved the frames on the photos! … xo

Curls and Pearls – it does, doesn't it? I definitely feel refreshed!

Carolyn – I'd say that the Sonia Kashuk liner is as good as the Bobbi Brown one but SO much cheaper. I haven't used the MAC one before.

Ashley J – oh, a lash refill for my lash extensions, you can read about them here (and pictures there too) I'll try to take a new picture of them today so you can see how full they look like after a fill.

Katie – I actually haven't even tried out the shadows yet. I just like looking at the colors. 🙂 But yes, so happy to finally get my hands on it.

Onada – thanks! Haven't seen you around much girl, hope you are well!

elizabethashleyphoto – i'm right there with you! I was just like that last week, dying to get my haircut.

Pauline – thanks sweets! Probably no rest until next week, this week is filled with dinners and visitors and in-laws but I'm excited for all of it!

Nicole Lisa – thanks for the birthday wishes! I was just telling my husband that I couldn't drive in flats because my feet can't touch the ground and the gas pedal at the same time. Awkward driving 🙂

rosy+tart- I was at the Tory Burch store and I just knew I couldn't walk out of there without a pair! Go back and get yourself a pair too! 🙂

Ari – ah, glad you know how I feel about the puppies. They are the best to snuggle with after a long and hard day.

Chic n'Cheap – yup, target. J's got some stuff up his sleeve, I know it 🙂

Hannah – I haven't gotten my nails done in awhile (my favorite nail salon closed and I don't like going to unknown places) but I agree, getting your nails done is so nice!

Alyssa – happy birthday to you too! oh I'm so excited for tomorrow to eat my cupcakes. Maybe I'll have J just go get them for me today and I can stuff my face early. haha!

CessOviedo – Oh, I'm going to have to agree with that too, but for cooking/baking I have to be in the right mood. But when I am, I love baking, especially really yummy muffins.

First of all, Happy Birthday to you! A little pampering always makes me feel better as well 🙂 I enjoy time off by myself when I can either go shopping or get a pedicure. But I do enjoy time with my doggie the best! Its amazing how they can make you feel better! We like to walk to the park near our house and look at all the ducks, its such a nice stress-reliever after a long crazy day!

Happy birthday!! Have an extra yummy cupcake for me since I didn't get one while I was in Seattle. 🙂

Totally wish I could drive in heels. I kinda can, but it scares me yet…

Pampering yourself is so nice, but it's so expensive! 🙁 I try to keep it to maybe a little treat, like a new necklace or makeup or something small-ish. I'm always afraid of getting too accustomed to treats!

Emily – so true. Without my dogs, I would never voluntarily go and take long walks and enjoy the weather + scenery and sometimes those walks are really all you need to clear your mind.

Maggie – haha, you should be scared of me when I'm on the road in flats!

Beso – thanks for letting me and my readers know. Will go check it out!

Katharine – Yay! I hope you do, it so good!

Kimmie – thanks lovely! Let's get together soon!

I hear you, sometimes you just need a few little perk/pick-me-ups to feel great 🙂 I'm glad you got yours!!

I think mine are getting my hair coloured, painting my nails, sweatin' it out in Zumba or buying myself a little treat (this could be dessert, or a pair of shoes! :P)

Big day tomorrow!!!!! 😀 And it IS a big deal!

happy happy birthday!!! I love the nail colors and the cupcakes (mmm….cupcakes). The little things definitely make a difference…I love giving myself a nice mani or pedi (or even going out for a pedi every once in a while) or just reading fashion mags with some nice scented candles going…sounds like a great plan for tonight, in fact!
