Friends and Family at Sephora!

It's that shopping time of the year where all the discounts come out to play and we do our best to resist them!  I continually lose that game so when Sephora's friends and family came around I didn't even try to resist, I just popped right on over and added way too many things in my cart and now am anxiously awaiting their arrival!

Use code FF2010 to save 20% off your order, expires November 3rd.  And don't forget to use your ebates to save an additional 4%!

And because I've had a few of you inquire about my makeup essentials, here's what I always use and restock on, especially during Friends and Family time!

1. Tarte Amazonian Clay Foundation w/Brush -for some reason this is only sold at QVC which is where I got it from.  Great consistency and coverage and the brush is nice too.
2. Tarte Dark Circle Defense Natural Under Eye Corrector -the easiest way to brighten up a tired face is under eye concealer.
3. Bare Escentuals Flawless Application Face Brush
4. Bare Escentuals bareMinerals SPF 15 Foundation -I've used this powder foundation for years and I'm still not sick of it.
5. Yves Saint Laurent TOUCHE ECLAT -I also put this under my eyes and to add a bit of contour to my lips.  Love this!

1. Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil -I like to use these colored pencils on my bottom lash line, it gives a fun but subtle touch to your eyes without the heavy look of a alot of eyeshadow.
2. Stila Smoky Eye Talking Palette -I am always a fan of palettes like this.  So easy to do your makeup without trying to figure out what colors to use together.
3. Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion -I'm sure everyone and their mom uses this.  If you don't, you have to start!  Keeps my eye makeup on all day long.
4. Tarte Cheek Stain Flush -The best long lasting blush for people like me - when I apply just powder blush, it comes off in an hour!
5. Smashbox Limitless Long Wear Lip Gloss -Not too sticky and I've never found a color I didn't like.
6. Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner -Black liner is the worse when it smears all over your eyelid.  Gel liners completely solve that problem and stay only on your lash line!

I didn't get ALL of that, just a few that I was running out of but I also added this lipstick (in Rose Stiletto) and Ojon Hair Treatment as my hair has been a bit dry and hoping that this will give some shine back to it!

So do spill, what did you guys get? :)  I've been looking for other hair treatments/hair masks to help out my dry hair, any recommendations?

  2. I haven't bought anything yet (the joy of being a beauty blogger, I'm already overwhelmed with products and don't have time to buy things. Instead, I have items I'm not always happy with and yet have to use. Hmm....)

I'm also a big fan of the Bobbi Brown Gel Eyeliner and the 24/7 eye liners. The UDPP is coming out in a big squeeze tube soon, rather than the genie shaped wand that ends up wasting so much product, I'm not sure if it has hit Sephora yet. That's definitely my favorite eye lid primer.

When I do place an order I think I'll be trying out the MUFE HD Concealer. My friend Tammy from A Mom in Red High Heels swears by it and my favorite from Shu Uemura is being phased out on-line.

I haven't tried the Ojon Hair treatment, though I have many friends that swear by it. I've had great luck with these items when my hair is dry:
Rene Furterer Complexe 5- I went to Rene Furterer in Paris and had a hair treatment and it was absolutely amazing. This oil was the main product that helps so much, but it's better when followed by Karite Cream

Carol's Daughter Hair Smoothie- these are hard to find in stock and they are amazing! There are a few different "flavors", but they all work. While really designed for AA hair, they won't overwhelm your asian hair (they seem fine on my white girl hair) :D

If you don't care about using your Sephora F&F discount, I just started using the Kokoro G Shampoo & Treatment from Yuko and the split ends that wouldn't go away even with a trim (grrr!) were suddenly gone overnight. You can buy it on-line, but I think you might be able to find it nearby in Seattle. I can't get it near me in Ann Arbor, so I'm forced to go on-line.

Hope that helps! I'm off to fill a cart.

  5. I also got a digital perm a year for at least four or five years now, though I'm trying to take a break. I found my hair became much dryer and started falling out more! For re-hydration, I had good luck with the Carol's Daughter Hair Smoothie, both used as a conditioner and as a deep conditioning treatment with a haircap and heat. As for helping it grow back, I am just trying to not give in to the temptation of nice curls...

  6. PetiteLittleGirl - I know what you mean! Bloggers always make me interested in things I wasn't interested in before.

Christine - you are awesome! thank you so much for all your recommendations. I'm going to try some of the products and really interested in that shampoo, I'd love to get rid of my split ends!

Savvy gal - thanks! I need to get my order in at Saks now! :)

    CessOviedo - your welcome :)

Lucy - oh, I am so glad you can relate! Thank you for the recommendation, I'm going to try that Hair Smoothie out since both you and Christine recommended it.

  8. You may want to try Fekkai's Glossing Cream, which is a great smoother + glosser, so it makes your hair real soft and hydrated. Also, I love the Fresh Meadowfoam Cream Treatment Conditioner for a deep conditioning. A little goes a long way! (All of their [Fresh] hair products are actually rather nice.)

  9. I got the Fresh Umbrian Clay Treatment bar and the boscia must-haves kit. Any opinion on these products? I've been in serious need of some eye cream to prevent the wrinkles I see encroaching and was hoping the Amino-AG one in the kit would be good. I'm in my early 20s, but the underskin of my eyes suddenly looks awful after my summer in LA, not sure why

  11. You must try Shu Uemera's Essence Absolue Nourishing Protective Oil for your hair, it will definitely help your dry hair. You can use it as a hair mask or as a leave in conditioner and it won't weigh down your hair.

  12. As a former makeup artist I have sooo much stuff, I really need to throw some things out. But I agree with you, the Bare Minerals foundation is wonderful. Except I'm so messy with it...

  13. Happy Sunday Ms. Seattle's #1 fashionista!

I've heard so many great things about Green Leaf, but I have yet to go! I moved to Seattle a year ago from the Midwest.

I really enjoyed Long's Viet Restaurant (on 2nd or 3rd), rumor has it they flew in a chef from Vietnam to cook. :) They also own Tamarind Tree Restaurant, which I heard is also yummy.

Do you like Viet Pho? My all time favorite has been Pho Cyclo on Broadway. Let me know your favorites! I love to try new places.

    It's great to meet ya!

    Steph ^^
