Lookbook: Chains and Pearls

I think this outfit was more just about the necklace and the shoes than anything else. You've actually seen both in this post but here's the picture again just because I like it :)

What I'm Wearing:
Cardigan: J. Crew
Shirt: J. Crew
Jeans: Naked and Famous
Shoes: Gucci
Necklace: Tommy Hilfiger
I love the little details on this cardigan like the ruffle edges and the rhinestone buttons but it is so dang itchy! I have to always make sure that every part of me is covered, if it even touches my skin, I just want to take it off. Don't you hate sweaters like that? I would wear it more often if it wasn't so itchy.

I just love the mix of the chains and the pearls on this necklace. It's like a big jumble but a perfectly put together jumble!

Shop the Lookbook:

Featherweight cotton tipped pocket cardigan
this cardi is too cute. need it.

Trying to stay away from the wool cardigans so it's not so itchy. I love this ruffle cardigan and this navy one would go with everything.

MiH Jeans Cotton tuxedo shirt

Tuxedo shirts are great for anytime of the year. This one is perfect for the summer tucked into cute floral shorts. This sweater ruffle version is adorable too!

Naked & Famous Slim Girl, Stretch Selvedge
Love these jeans. I usually wear them cuffed so you can see the selvedge, but they look great without the cuff too.

Lori Leavitt Collection Mixed Chains Necklace

love all the mixed chain/pearl necklaces, any of these would look fab with this outfit.

For all of you that asked, yes of course will be doing a reveal of what I bought at Louis Vuitton! As soon as I get home I'll be taking a lookbook picture with it! Any guesses as to what I bought? :)

Also I have to thank my awesome reader Jen who hooked me up with the BEST screen protector ever for my iPhone. I've bought so many of those film things trying to protect my screen from being scratched but it either A) goes on crooked or B) gets crap stuck underneath it. I HATE looking at dust when I'm using my iPhone. I recently peeled off my last screen protector because of said dust when Jen reached out to me letting me know about her boyfriend's company, Clear-Coat that creates screen protectors for iPhones (and other phones/ipods/laptops).

I'm not kidding when I say it's AMAZING. So easy to put on and no worries about the two problems I mentioned above. You gotta trust me, if you are in need of a good screen protector, check them out. I know I sound like an infomercial (and I'm totally not getting paid to say this) but it really is the best. And not only do they have screen protectors but they protect the entire case with a film for the back too. You can use the plain clear back, or they have all these different designs too! I currently have this one on my iPhone and I love having the design without the bulkiness of the cover that I was previously using. Anyway, I love it and highly recommend it to any of you who hate getting their phone scratched. Thanks so much for thinking of me Jen!

My Week in iPhone Pictures (Travels)

As I've mentioned, I haven't been home much and with all the traveling comes a great excuse to take a lot of iPhone pictures this past few weeks. (These pictures here span about two weeks) It's become a fun little travel diary to keep and I thought I'd share with you guys!

The travels started off with a roadtrip to the Oregon coast. It was a 7 hour car ride but our doggies did very well! :)

We spent one of the days at Cannon Beach and the dogs got to run around. We eventually let them off-leash which they loved. (shhh! They aren't supposed to be off leash but they didn't harm anyone :) )

I forgot to take an iPhone pic of the beach and ocean itself so click here and here for pics from my DSLR. It was really beautiful on the coast.

After leaving the coast, J and I spent a few nights in Portland. I love trying out great restaurants whenever we travel so we tried out Pok Pok one night. It was delish and this was the salted plum vodka drink that I got.
97/365: Salted Plum vodka

Of course we did some tax-free shopping while we were there. I snapped this while in the Pearl District.
98/365: Oregon

And it's now become a regular thing that every time we go to Portland, I buy something from Louis Vuitton. We even got the same sales associate who remembered us from the times before!
99/365: Mama's got a brand new bag!

Portland, like everywhere else has gone Food Cart crazy but they've stepped it up and have an entire street full of them! In Seattle, you have to chase them down in the different locations and usually it's just one. This was a mecca of food carts! There were so many to choose from but we chose the one with the longest line because, well, that ensures that it's good right?
We were not disappointed with Nong's! They only serve one dish, a Thai "street food" of chicken and rice which is so simple but oh so good! If you are in Portland, I highly recommend stopping by this cart. The wait was worth it! I didn't take a picture of the actual food because this piggy was too hungry and ate it all up before thinking about taking a picture!

Uh, can you tell food is very important to us? haha! We did hot pot the next day. We always do half and half so we can have some relief from the spicy side but dude, gotta love the spicy broth. Doesn't it just look like it's going to burn your mouth?! It's SO good.

After all our yummy eating adventures, I then left hubs at home and began another week on a plane.

Because I am always on an early flight, I need my coffee. I always ask for a coffee and a water.
I travel first class for all my business travel and I must say it has made me quite spoiled. I have been booking flights for our vacations in coach and it makes me cry knowing that I'll be cramped in those tiny seats with no sweet stewardesses that take care of my every need! But we can't afford to fly first class on all of our vacations so I'll just have to deal with it. :)

Breakfast that day was french toast, eggs and sausage. And yes, I do have to say that first class food is better. Maybe because it's served on an actual plate and not in a weird tray?

My entertainment for my flight...

iPod playing Tristan Prettyman

I started "Chasing Harry Winston" on my Nook. I'm not a huge fan of Lauren Weisberger but it was on sale for like $4. So downloaded it before I got on the plane. I use a Prada cosmetic bag to hold my nook. I already had the bag before and one day I was looking for something to protect my nook while it's in my bag and noticed that the cosmetic bag was around the same size. It actually fits perfectly and is now a great Nook protector!

I always take pictures out the window of the plane. I'm fascinated with the mountains and other natural environment that you'd never see from a view like this.

So I finally arrive and what do I do that night? Go bowling! Ack! Not my choice of course :) A company sponsored event but gave it a good try. Still... didn't do too well. oh well!

A quick outfit snap... top and pants by J. Crew, cardi by Marc by Marc Jacobs, boots by Sergio Rossi.
Those black things on the bed behind me are packing cubes. I love them! They keep everything so organized.

Not unexpected but still, I hate waking up to snow. I'm happy to live in Seattle where it doesn't snow very often and when it does, it certainly doesn't snow in April! If you are wondering, I always bring a pair of "snow shoes" to wear outside and then change into my heels at the office.
I'm wearing the Ugg Cardy boots here.

Luckily, the hotel I stayed at brushes off the cars throughout the day/night so when I got to my car it wasn't completely covered.

Even though it's an annoyance, I can't help but admire the beauty of falling snow.

Yay! Back on the plane which means I finally get to go home!

I was on a late night flight (didn't land until midnight) so before it got dark I looked out the window and saw this. It was absolutely gorgeous! I couldn't stop looking at it. I've never seen this exact split/line of sky and clouds.

I'm back home for a couple of days and then back on a plane again. Ah, gotta love my schedule! I'm getting used to living out of a suitcase! ;)

See my first "Week in iPhone pictures" here.

All photos shot by me on the iPhone and edited with the Camera Bag or Hipstamatic App

Lookbook: Big Bun

Okay, so this is not my favorite lookbook. The effect of the t-shirt over my jeans creating a lumpy stomach area really bugs me. BUT I'm still doing a lookbook because I like my hair. haha!

What I'm Wearing:
Blazer: Hinge
T-shirt: J. Crew
Jeans: Citizens of Humanity
Shoes: Christian Louboutin (close up here)
Necklace: Forever 21
I love this tuxedo style blazer, the back of it is cropped so it comes up a bit higher which I think looks adorable over dresses. I found it at Nordstrom Rack which surprises me because I NEVER find anything at the Rack that I like. I'm not big into digging for stuff which is what you gotta do at the Rack but they had this rounder marked with "Savvy/TBD" stuff so I perused it and voila, found this cutie blazer that I've already worn quite a few times in the past few weeks. I realize I wear a lot of black and gray, but really such an easy color combo to wear.
The big bun came out of frustration with not being able to style my hair that day so I just pulled it back and decided to get it all up. The trick to keeping a big bun on top of your head is 2nd day dirty hair and then curl it to get some texture. It really creates that extra hold without the need for a ton of styling products. I have a TON of hair, but I only had to use 3 bobby pins to keep my hair up.

My process for the big bun:
  • Curl hair. It doesn't have to be nicely curled, just enough to add texture to your hair.
  • Pull your hair back to a high point of your head and secure with a rubber band
  • Tug at the base of the ponytail to create a "loose" look. Basically not so slicked back to your head
  • Start wrapping the hair around the base and secure with a bobby pin at one side
  • As you twist the bun, start pulling out pieces so that it looks a bit messy
  • Bobby pin the opposite side of your first bobby pin
  • Add bobby pin to the front (or wherever you need it) to keep it all secure
  • Pull out your front layers to frame your face
  • Easy peasy big bun is done!

Shop the Lookbook:

Juicy Couture - Crop Back Double Breasted Jacket

I've been loving boyfriend blazers but I think cropped blazers are my new favorite thing. Isn't this gray one too cute? Or instead of a blazer, this sequin crop jacket is fab too!

J. Crew V-neck tee

You know I love my J. Crew tees. I have one drawer just dedicated to J. Crew tees. I just love how soft they are! Love this one too that is a bit less fitted. Adore this corsage tee too (and on sale!)

Citizens of Humanity 'Elson' High Rise Straight Leg Jean

You really can't go wrong with dark straight legged jeans. I think they look good on any body type. Love the really dark jeans. And straight leg jeans are great too because you can cuff them like these and they give you a whole new look!

Christian Louboutin Feticha
I have to say that I love the Feticha as the shape is really nice but they really aren't the most comfortable. (But not many Loubies are)

Check out these pumps with the bow on it. Adorable! I think these Marc by Marc Jacobs pumps are perfect every day shoes.

FULL TILT Multi Flower Necklace only $7.99!

Fun colorful options too!
