Lookbook: Fedora

I never ever thought that I'd show you guys a lookbook where I'm wearing sneakers but I wore this out to walk our dogs and thought it would be a good lookbook to mix things up around here!

What I'm Wearing:

After I came back from Jamaica I got way too many freckles on my face (and a brown nose) which I do not like at all. I usually wear a hat but I forgot to pack it last time, so since we have 3 more tropical destinations to go I decided to stock up on more hats so that I would have a variety to wear. Unfortunately I can't wear a hat when I'm shooting a wedding, which is when I think I got the most sun on my face but I can at least wear a hat all the rest of the time I'm in the sun. When I saw the line of Eugenia Kim hats for Target I knew I had to have this fedora. It fits perfectly and is so dang cute! You can't beat the price either.

I was at Nordstrom trying on a T by Alexander Wang shirt and my husband was saying that it looked like I was just wearing one of his undershirts. I do understand the appeal of the Alexander Wang tees as they are super soft and just drape so well however, when we went to Target later that week I decided to go check out the men's undershirts and bought a pack of 3 shirts for like $15. Much less than a $75 price tag of the Alexander Wang tee! :)

A tip if you want to try this look out, the v-necks on these undershirts are way too high so I pulled and pulled at mine until it was stretched to the point that I liked it at. I also rolled up the sleeves so that it created a better fit. Oh and I bought a size Medium because I wanted to make sure it was long and baggy enough.

A close up of the hat. Gotta love the blue ribbon and the parrot embellishment. It's a great hat as it's not just a tropical location hat like the big floppy straw hat I usually wear. I can wear this in Seattle and not look out of place.

Romper Room

I just got back from a destination wedding in St. John and it was BEAUTIFUL. We stayed a few extra days to laze around and sit by the beach and it was a lovely few days. Anyway, I did my best to stay away from the computer while I was there so I'm glad to be home and back to reading my favorite blogs! :) My google reader is a bit insane so can't wait to catch up with you all. I did answer a few formspring questions though!

Anyway, during my beach vacations I usually like to wear lots of summery dresses as they are so easy to just toss on over your bikini and walk out the door but this time I took a few of my rompers and decided that they are my new favorite thing to wear. They just look so darn cute and are a totally effortless outfit. When you're in a hot location, the last thing you want to do is to fuss around with your outfit so rompers come in handy as you look great but stay cool too. I came home and decided I needed a few more for this summer. Take a look at the ones I found!

Digital Perms

Digital perms are one of the top searches to my blog which means I get LOTS and LOTS of questions about digital perms. I just need to post this for all of those that found my blog and have questions.

Found my blog through a digital perm search? Great! Hi! Nice to meet you. I love my digital perm and highly recommend getting them. You can read about my digital perm tips here. I got mine done in Seattle at Ten Pachi, I do not have recommendations for other cities as I've only gotten it done here.

I get a lot of questions regarding digital perms so please keep in mind that I'm NOT an expert. I've never given a digital perm, I'm only someone who has gotten one. I can only answer questions that are specific to MY digital perm such as what products I use, how I maintain my perm, how long it lasted, etc... Everything else need to be directed to a professional stylist who has given digital perms. I can not tell you if your hair texture can take a perm. Again, I'm not an expert. I have not given a digital perm, please do not send me questions that should be answered by a professional.

Lookbook: White Lace

I tend to think that white lace should be left for the brides but when I found this top, it was too pretty not to have in my closet.

What I'm Wearing:

This is actually a very unusual outfit as I never ever do full on Forever 21. I always tend to mix my low end with high end stuff but this lace blouse was so well made that I don't think you could really tell just how cheap it was!

It could actually be worn as a dress (albeit a short short dress) but I belted it to make it into a top which I like better. I also just realized that I'm wearing the same skirt and same belt from last Tuesday's lookbook. As you can tell, I'm big on belting short dresses to turn them into tops.

We don't take our cameras out with us very often but I had mine on me that day so while we were out, I had J take pictures under a freeway overpass. The sand on the ground was making my heels sink in so I couldn't stand straight and it was super duper windy so my hair was flying all over the place. I don't think I'll be going back there for pictures but at least it made for some new scenery!

Lookbook: See by Chloe

So you saw a preview of this outfit last week and now finally the full lookbook! Oh and it's the debut of the newest Louboutins (actually hubs just bought me a pair last week so I guess this is the newest pair before that one. LOL) Also, I'm posting lookbooks out of order so you'll still see some that I took before my haircut. Obviously, I went with the big hair look this day. That's the beauty of having so much hair, you can make it look as big as you want! :)

The moment I put this dress on, it was an instant favorite. The fit, the cut, the ruffles and the stripes. It goes along with the nautical trend that's everywhere now except girly-fied. So perfect. And it's got pockets! Love a dress with pockets. I paired it with my Forever 21 linen blazer as I wanted a little bit of a color mix and love the light pink with the stripes. This outfit just goes to a show that a mix of high end + low end can work really well if you just put the right pieces together.

The shoes, the shoes! Let's talk about these nude pumps because I am in love with them. Not only do they elongate my short little legs, they match every outfit! If you've ever thought about getting a pair of nude pumps but haven't yet, let this lookbook be the one that helps you decide. :) They are just a must for every woman's closet! If you are wondering, these are the Louboutin Simple 100 pumps. You know how I usually say Louboutins are truly uncomfortable? Well, these are the exceptions. I've been wearing them out a lot lately and even shopping for hours and they are still comfy. I kind of want to wear them every single day!

Bridesmaids

It is full on wedding season! And I know this because my google calendar says "wedding" almost every week from now until October. We are actually not attending any this year but we will be photographing a whole lot of them. It's a bit crazy for us but good crazy. There is nothing more that I love than photographing weddings and it's great to get back into the swing of things. But anyway, enough about me, let's talk about you guys. I've been getting questions about bridesmaids dresses, either from readers who are brides themselves choosing for their own wedding or from readers who are the bridesmaids and the bride has kindly let them choose their own dress. Now, for those of you who have read about my wedding, I didn't actually have bridesmaids. I went for the super intimate wedding route so we had no bridal parties (which I still don't regret) but if I did, here's what I would've picked out for my bridesmaids.

I love short bridesmaid dresses and every wedding I've been in we've worn short dresses which I think looks really cute. I'm also a huge fan of adding a punch of color with your bridesmaids dresses so I say dress up your girls in some bright fun colors!

Love this magenta color and the ruffle embellishments on the first two. On the last one, I'd add a simple silver belt to add some style to it. You don't need much jewelry to these dresses either, I would just add a few bangles to all of these dresses for just a bit of bling.

I don't wear that much yellow but for some reason, I love yellow in weddings. I've seen so many weddings where the bridesmaids wear yellow and it just makes the ceremony look so pretty with all that yellow up there with the bride and groom. As you can see, I think anything with a little bit of embellishment, ruffles, pleating, a flower here or there is the best for a bridesmaids because then you won't have to worry about adding too many accessories. The dresses just look great on it's own.

Hot pink is also a great color choice and I think most skin tones can pull off this shade of pink.

And the best part about all these dresses? They are totally wearable for any other occasion!

I also love bridal parties where the girls aren't all wearing the exact same dresses. I think that if the bride picks out a color scheme that everyone sticks to, then your girls can buy dresses that flatter their own body types and ensure that they are spending money on a dress that they truly like.

Carmel's bridesmaids all wore some version of a gray ruffled or sequined dress and it looked wonderful all put together.

Lookbook: Military-ish

I finally got a haircut! You probably can't tell since I didn't get that much cut off but it's a huge difference to me because I got it thinned out. My head feels 5 pounds lighter! I've been needing to get it thinned out but because of my travels, just never had time to so I had to deal with my thick hair that takes forever to dry. My work trip got canceled last week so the first thing I did was make my hair appointment. Oh and I also got bangs! It's just a subtle difference because I'm still keeping them long and swept off to the side but I like the little bit of change.

This was a few days after the eyelash extensions and I'm getting used to them. The not rubbing my eyes is pretty hard especially when I wake up in the morning. But the best part is after I wash my face and put on a bit of blush, I'm basically ready to go! My eyes don't need as much attention to them as I usually do. Will have better more close up pictures later. I want to wear them for at least a week or two before I do my post so I can give you guys a full review and let you know if they are worth getting.
