Lookbook: Ruffle Shuffle

Presenting another Lookbook Video!
madewell_ruffle_vest

I just noticed that my hair is a bit ruffled like my vest!  I used a new curling iron, one without a clamp (this one) and it gave me these fun curls!  I like the different type of curl that it produces.  I’m trying hard not to use the curling iron everyday as I don’t want my hair to be further damaged but I’m kind of failing at it as I do love having curly hair.

This vest has become so versatile in my wardrobe.  I love that it adds such a cute accent without being overbearing and it’s not like I’m wearing that much of an extra layer since it’s just a vest.  I hate it when I layer too many shirts and then my arms get all bunched up with the extra fabric.  A ruffle vest is a perfect solution to layering!  Also, quite a few of you were surprised to see me wearing a while blazer during the winter in this lookbook but I love wearing white in the winter!  I wanted to show you this outfit to show you the contrast of a different way you can wear a white blazer in the winter and still look “winter appropriate”.  If it had been colder (and if I had been forced to be outside more) I would’ve worn boots but the layering of the vest helped keeped me plenty warm that day.

What I’m Wearing
Blazer: Eryn Brinie
Vest: Madewell
Top: Martin + Osa
Jeggings: Vince
Shoes: Christian Louboutin “Bianca”
Bracelet: gift from Ice.com
Ring: Wendy Brandes

madewell_ruffle_vestThose little bows on my lapel you see up there? They are earrings!  Thought they looked better on my blazer than on my ears.  Cute right?

I’m all about the light colored blazers.  I just bought a cream one that I’m loving.  How cute is this ruffle blazer, check out the ruffle on the back!

Forever21 Ruffles & Lace Vest – so cute and under $20!
You could do the same with this short sleeve ruffle cardigan or this vest comes in several colors.

I’m not a huge yellow person but it’s a nice color to mix in every once in awhile.
Really though with this outfit you could just do a tee underneath in practically any color.  These are my favorite long sleeve tees.

I am a jeggings lover 🙂  They are so comfy!

My gray wool ones are sold out but I love the new colors that they brought out for this style.

I’ve never head of this brand but these are really similar and are only $28!  Or these are pretty amazing for $100!

I forgot to photograph the jewelry but you can see them on the video.

as well as Chanel Vendetta, which is one of my favorite dark polishes that I own.

LOVE THIS OUTFIT! Looks adorable. I use the Conair Infinity a few times a week, and I love it too. My hair is shoulder length, but I love the fun waves and volume it gives me. Great post! XO

I love winter white too and the ruffles are to cute. I recently experimented with ruffles under blazers and love the results. The colors you chose for this outfit are terrific though, they go surprisingly well together!

Absolutely love the outfit. I get a lot of my inspiration from your lookbooks, since we wear the same sizes(except for shoes, I'm a 6.5). Winter white is one of my faves. Living in the south, I get the side-eye a lot. 🙂

I'm so in love with this look! You must be reading my mind…I've been experimenting with vests and curly hair lately. Except I'm trying out hot rollers…old school, I know but the curl lasts longer than any iron I've ever tried.

Genius! I love the earrings as pins! I think that brooches, pins & cuff links are timeless and an easy way to make an outfit unique. You look so adorable in these pics, like you have a mischievous secret! 🙂

    have a great day!

Love, love, love both the outfit and the hair! I prefer a curling iron without the clamp; I am in love with the Jose Eber series. My friend in the UK tipped me off on that, so they're a bit tough to get in the states, but not impossible!

you are so creative. who woulda thunk it earrings for pins! I am asian and I have stick straight hair. what products do you use to keep your curl in? I have spent 2 hours doing my hair curling the heck out of it but in 10 mins it falls flat after using strong hold hair spray and mousse. I can't wait for it to grow out so I can get a perm.

Question: how often do you change your nail polish colours?

and that curling iron – I'm getting one too! Avon (well in Canada anyway) actually sells it 🙂

Super great outfit, although the word 'jeggings' makes my skin crawl. I especially like the earrings idea. Consignment stores are rife with interesting pairs that would make great brooches. Very clever.
