Favorite iPhone Apps

I'm don't consider myself a techie kind of girl but I do love my gadgets.  I get it from my dad who's ALWAYS been a gadget guy.  He has every gadget imaginable and he's always been like that, I still remember his Zack Morris cell phone and he got it way before Zack Morris!  Anyway, I know I post a lot about my iPhone so thought I'd share some of my favorite apps for those of you just as obsessed with the iPhone!  I know that most everyone knows about the good ol' apps that everyone must have (Pandora, Yelp, Groupon, etc...) so wanted to share some that I think are a little less talked about but fantastic in my opinion.

 

MobileRSS - the best app that I've found to read all my feed subscriptions.  Syncs up to Google Reader seamlessly!  I use the free one which has ads on it but it's not too distracting.

Tweetdeck - the best twitter client that I've used.  I like that you can group who you are following into your own categories.  I group fashion bloggers into one, photographers into another, etc... so much easier than reading through the entire feed.  And it syncs up to the tweetdeck on your computer as well.

Springpad - This is one of my favorite apps ever.  I write all my notes and make lists through my account on springpad and then it all syncs up to my iPhone so when I'm out and about I can always check my lists.  But not only that, if you are surfing the web and find something that you like, just "spring it!" and it will be saved in your springpad account on your computer AND your iPhone.  I save a lot of recipes on my computer and now when I'm baking, I just keep my phone with me in the kitchen and pull springpad up and can find all my recipes in one place.  Oh and it categorizes everything so you can find your recipes, notes, tasks, etc... super easily.

Amazon.com - Maybe not an unknown app but I had to mention it because it has a barcode scan which scans a product that you are looking at buying and then can tell you if it's cheaper on Amazon (which it usually is).  It really helps when you are out buying electronics or something that you may not be too familiar with and are not sure if the price at the store is actually a good price.  I find that even if it's on sale at the retail store, amazon still may have it for cheaper and free shipping. 

Net-a-porter - I just like this to look at pretty shoes, bags and jewelry.  I've never bought anything off the app before but it's fun to browse when you're bored.

Revolve Clothing - When I'm out clothes shopping and find something I like, I sometimes check to see if Revolve has it because Revolve often offers coupons and they have free shipping so I may save some money buying it from them than at a store where I have to pay full price and tax.

JotNot Pro - Since I work from home I don't have easy access to fax machines or copiers/scanners like I used to when I worked in a corporate office.  This little app has saved me from ever having to borrow a fax machine.  You basically just take a picture of the document and it creates a scanned pdf of the document that you can just email to anyone.  It's awesome!

Dropbox - This is basically a file sharing service.  My husband and I used this long before the iPhone to share documents but now that it's on my iPhone it's awesome to have any important documents on hand when I need them.  All you need is a dropbox account and whatever files you put in there can be automatically shared with whomever you give permission to your dropbox folders and the same if you have more than one computer or obviously, on the iPhone as well.

Lose it! - I used this app when I was tracking what I ate and how many times I worked out a week.  You can put in a goal of how much weight you want to lose and at what rate per week (like lose 1lb a week) and it will give you your daily calorie goal.  It has a database of food items so you just put in what you ate, the amount and it tells you the calories and adds it all up per day.  When you put in your exercises it will calculate about how many calories you burned and then you can see your total calorie intake for the day.  I'm not super hardcore about calories but it was nice to see a weekly snapshot of what I ate and how much I worked out.

Martha Stewart Cookies - Quite possibly the prettiest app I have.  I love Martha Stewart cookie recipes.  I have yet to be disappointed by them.  There's a lot of cookie recipes on this app and I like that they recently updated it with even more cookie recipes.  I got it when it was $2.99 but now it's on sale for $0.99 for Valentine's day so if you want it make sure to get it now!

 

Camera Bag - I love the filters on this app, it's fun to go through all the filters to see how your picture changes.

Cross Process - My favorite phone editing app.  It always makes the pictures much more interesting looking and I like that it adds a border around the pictures.

*I know that the Hipstamatic is a popular camera app and I do own it but I don't love it.  I hate that you can't choose an existing picture from your album and you have to take the picture with the app.  It can take a bit for the app to open and then by the time you do you may have already missed your moment.  Plus I'm crazy about composing/styling my photos so I often take 3-4 pictures of the same thing at different angles/compositions but with the hipstamatic it takes much longer to do that.  I'm just not a huge fan of the "lenses" that are used in the app.

And of course I love "dressing up" my iPhone with different cases.  Here are some of my favorites...

2. Marc by Marc Jacobs Silicone iPhone case - gotta love the hot pink color!  You'll be able to spot your phone a mile away!
3. Hello Kitty iPhone Case - just too cute! (and get 3.5% cashback at Modcloth!)
4. LUXMO Full Diamond Case - On my last smart phone (before I transitioned to the iPhone) I fully decked it out in rhinestones.  I glued on every single little rhinestone and it was painstaking but it was PRETTY!!  I don't have the time or patience these days to do that so this case would be the perfect remedy for that.  And really for $8.99, I could get multiple colors and change them out weekly!

For those of you who are iPhone lovers as well please do share your favorite apps!  I love finding  great ones but I hate browsing the app store so am always looking for recommendations.
