Lookbook: YSL Mary Jane

Finally broke out the new YSL platforms that I got before Christmas!  And yes I'm crazy for not wearing tights but I wanted to show you guys the detail on the pretty shoes and it got lost when I was wearing tights.  At least I took these photos a few weeks ago when it was a bit warmer and not the 30 degree weather that we've been having lately!
What I'm Wearing
Skirt: from a boutique in Sydney, Australia
Shoes: YSL
Bracelets: Vintage (the big gold one), J Crew (bangles)
Ring: DIY from a vintage earring
I bought the high waisted skirt about 4 years ago on a business trip to Australia and it's STILL one of my favorite skirts to wear!  (I always fit shopping time in when I go on business trips.  Don't you? :) )  The shoes, the shoes!  They make me so tall which is such a plus and I love the knot detailing in the front.  BUT they are so tall that they make my foot slide forward so it looks like they are slightly too big on me, I need some foot petals!

ASOS Wrapped Front Ruched Sleeve Blouse
I love the color of this blouse but beware of the cross front as it can be quite revealing!  My last order of ASOS I kind of was terrible about sizes and ordered everything in a size too big so this shirt fits best only when tucked into something.  I think it was because I used to order off of their UK sizing and then they switched to US sizing and then I got confused as to which size I used to order.  Oh well, I didn't feel like returning anything so I'm making it work.

Hot pink is something I need more of in my wardrobe. How cute is this Tibi top or this Trina Turk wrap top is super similar too!

Elizabeth and James High Waisted Spinning Skirt
I think high waisted skirts are so flattering, I haven't found one that I don't like yet.  I'm thinking about getting this draped high waisted skirt. Oh and I adore this striped Kate Spade skirt.

Yves Saint Laurent Tribute sandals
Mine are called the "Tribute Mary Jane" if you are interested in finding them.  They are most likely sold out as they were last season but you may luck out on ebay!  These Alexander Mcqueen Platform Mary Janes are pretty amazing too. Or check out these cute platform mary janes for under $100.

Tomorrow is the last day to enter my giveaway!  Go do it if you haven't yet!

Lookbook: Just a girl

A big bow, ruffles and mary janes, ah, I couldn't make this outfit more girly unless it was pink!  I very rarely shop at H&M - I hate the layout of the downtown Seattle store even if there's only 4 people in the store, the layout makes it so crowded that it seems like everyone in the store is all up in my personal space or I'm walking into racks of clothing - not how I like to shop, but I always see bloggers with such cute stuff from H&M so I decided to stop in and see if I had any luck.  Didn't end up finding any clothing but I spotted this headband and just couldn't resist the size of the bow and the Miu Miu-ish bird print!

What I'm Wearing
Blouse: ASOS
Skirt: from Aritzia
Tights: DKNY
Shoes: Miu Miu
Clutch: Gucci (Vintage)
Headband: H&M
Bracelet: Vintage

ASOS Pussybow Blouse
I love ASOS blouses, the usually fit well and the quality is pretty good for the price.  I only wish that I got a size smaller as it's slightly baggy for my liking but it's so hard with sizing for ASOS stuff. I'm also loving this military blouse and the detail on this blouse is really cute too, I think I may have to add these to my next order.
Gap Pleated tie skirt
How cute is this wide pleat skirt too?  And this "paintbrush stripe" skirt would be really cute with the blouse as well.  BTW, Gap is 2% cashback at ebates so don't forget to use it before you order! :)
Donna Karan Hosiery
Gotta have the gray tights!  I have so many tights and all varying shades of gray.  You really wouldn't think that I could have that many varieties of gray tights!
Ooh, these look perfect!  I love high platform mary janes!  Also have you seen these Jessica Simpson mary janes?  I love the height and the color.  So cute!  And I adore these Sergio Rossi Metallic Mary Jane Pumps, they would look so cute with black tights!

MICHAEL Michael Kors Jewel Metallic Clutch
Of course I love the Rebecca Minkoff MAC clutch as you've seen on me here.  The gray one would be great for every day!  Oh and if you love the qulited version it's on sale at ebags and get 6% cashback!

Nail Polish Organization

I often get asked about how I organize things from my makeup to nail polish to shoes to jewelry and to tell you the truth, I wish I had better answers but I just do my best to try to keep thing organized and even though it might not be the best way, it somehow works for me so I just do that until I happen upon a better a way.  I do admit that I like to see how others store their make up and nail polish, not only to get some new ideas but to get a glimpse of their collection!  :)  So, here is a short little video showing you my nail polish organization and how I try to keep track of all those little polish bottles.

West Elm is sold out of the shoe drawer that I use but here is a similar shoe drawer.  And click here for the acrylic box that holds my Zoya nail polishes.

The Zoya colors I showed you in the video are Gilda (I'm wearing that color on my nails) and Karina.  Also, the nail polish remover is the Sally Hansen Kwik Off which is awesome because you just dip your finger in there and just let the nail polish sponge take the polish off without having to deal with cotton balls.  Also, you know those times when you only have one nail that has major chips and you just want to repaint that one nail?  Well, this is perfect for those times because you can just take the nail polish off that one finger without having your other nails bothered.

The ring I'm wearing is the Erica Anenberg Double Finger Ring.

How do you organize your nail polish?  I would love to know!

p.s. If you are wondering what those little green guys next to my drawers are, they are the little pears that I crocheted awhile ago!  I still love looking at them, they always make me smile.  See here for more pictures of the pears and here for all the other little characters that I crocheted.
I haven't made one in over a year but they sure were fun to make! :)

My Favorite Things Giveaway!

Yay!  It's another giveaway!  First thing, if you haven't entered my ebates $100 Nordstrom Giftcard giveaway, do so now by signing up for ebates and you'll be entered!  (See post here)  Now for this week's giveaway, it is just something I wanted to do for all of my awesome readers because I <3 ALL of you and can't tell you guys enough.  I am giving away two of my favorite things, a cute pouch to put in your purse and a fun mirror to always have on hand to check your lipstick!  I had so many questions about where to get my Rebecca Minkoff "Allowance" pouch from my What's in my bag vlog and post.  Unfortunately it's not available anymore but guess what?  When I bought mine, I knew you guys would love it so bought an extra pouch to give away!  This one is the exact same size as mine and is made from the buttery leather that Rebecca Minkoff is known for.  When I was at the Marc Jacobs store in San Francisco, I also picked up an extra purse mirror that I thought was adorable and I know my readers are like me and love anything cute right?
When I started this little blog of mine 2+ years ago I never thought I'd have so many people around the world reading my blog (and thank goodness my international readers can finally see my blog again!  Sorry for that little snafu but thank you for all the kind messages about not being able to see it.)  This month alone I had around 100,000 visitors!!  That is a number I never would have imagined for my blog so I'm just amazed by it and truly grateful for your support.  I also have so many awesome facebook friends, google friend followers, twitter followers, RSS readers, email subscribers, etc... and I appreciate you guys coming back to read my blog.  I know there are some of you who even read my blog back when it was just a wedding planning blog and that is crazy to me!  Seems like so long ago! :)   So anyway, this is just my way of saying thank you!

Lookbook: Rosey

I very rarely wear a lot of logo-ed type stuff and I actually look more at the style/design than any logos so if I love the style of something but it has logos on it, unless it detracts from it, I have no problem at all with the logos.  There is a line of being "tacky" with logos or just wearing something because you like the design.  Anyway, moving on...I was given this scarf as a gift from a friend (thank you! I love it!) and I wanted to wear it and really, I just loved the color scheme of the dark gray and red.  It's such a pretty pairing.

What I'm Wearing
Blazer: Bird by Juicy Couture
Blouse: J Crew
Jeans: Madewell
Booties: Prada
Bag: Chanel (vintage)
I'm wearing a silk J Crew blouse underneath the scarf that you can't really see but I love it a lot.  The silly thing was that I cooked breakfast in it the other day and I got a big spot of oil on it.  WAH! I was so sad.  I haven't had much luck with silk + stains, I really hope the dry cleaners can get it out.

Bird by Juicy Couture 'Fuji' Sequin Blazer
Love this!  So pretty, I would wear this with everything.
Everyone needs a white blazer, they are so versatile!  I also really like this tuxedo blazer.  A little bit different but how pretty is this lace jacket

Ella Moss Estelle Silk Safari Shirt
I love to wear silk blouses under my blazers especially for work.  Tucked into black pants it's always an easy go-to outfit.  This navy one would be great too or this one is perfect and it looks a lot more expensive than the price!

Madewell Back-Zip Legging Jeans - on sale for $59.50 now!
I just ordered more of these legging jeans and these.  I wear mine so often that I needed to get extras in case something happened to them!  Both are on sale and free shipping! (Use code: WEEKEND) and make sure to use ebates before you put in your order.  It's not a huge amount (1%) but it's still something!

Prada Booties
You know I love my booties, not only are they totally cute and go with everything, they are really comfy too! I used to not be a bootie kind of girl but I've discovered that the lower ankle booties work better on my shorty legs (they don't cut my legs off like the true ankle booties). You could also go for a classic black pair like these Pour La Victoire bootie. Or these DVF lace up booties are SO cute.  (and 50% off!)

Alexander McQueen Skull-Print Chiffon Scarf
I love to add a bit of color with scarves and you can't go wrong with the classic Alexander McQueen skull scarf.   This rose print scarf from Madewell is also really pretty.  I can go either way with scarves, expensive or cheap I don't care as long as I like the pattern.  This pink scarf is really cute and only $9.99!

Cinnamon Hearts!

Just had to post a few pictures of what the hubs surprised me on Valentine's Day with as it was just so sweet.  Yes, I do tell him not to get me flowers on V-Day but he still does (and I don't deny it, I love it).  But the best surprise of all?  A gigantic apothecary jar of my favorite candy in the whole wide world!!  I told you I cut out candy out of my diet, but I had to make an exception to gummy cinnamon hearts as they only come around once a year and they seriously are the best candy ever!  (And I totally ate a whole bunch before I took these pictures.)  I've also been wanting to add an apothecary jar or two to our decor and I love this one that he bought.  The daisies are a tradition, every time he buys me flowers he buys me daisies too.  I just love the color of them.  Oh and if you are wondering, I did the flower arrangements myself.  Hubs is great at buying me flowers but leaves me to arrange them :)  You can see the flowers he got me last year on this post (scroll to the bottom).

I didn't capture the little jar on the left but those are valentine's treats for our doggies!  Aww, hubs is so great, he thinks of everyone in the family :)

Have a fabulous weekend everyone! I'm hoping for a stress-free relaxing weekend.  Crossing my fingers that I will get it!

Camera and lens info: I used my Canon 5D Mark II and a 35mm f/1.4L lens.  For the macro shots I used this macro lens on a Canon 40D.

Lookbook: My Valentine

People who don't blog (and don't read blogs) don't really understand my love for blogging.  Don't get me wrong, my friends and family are all VERY supportive of my blog which I love but for some friends/acquaintances I often get asked "How do you  have time for that?" or "Why do you blog? What's the point of it?"  They just don't understand that it is simply something that I love to do and beyond anything it is the community and the friendships that I've made in the blogging community (and those of you that don't blog at all but are loyal readers!) that keeps me going.  I get such wonderful emails, tweets and facebook messages from so many of you that make me feel like I have the most amazing friends in the world.  I've been able to meet readers in almost every city that I've visited since I started blogging and many in Seattle as well!  Every single reader that I've met has become an instant friend.  I've never met anyone who reads my blog who I don't have an instant connection with.  It's like starting a relationship without the awkward "getting to know you" stage!  So many of you are so thoughtful and even send me links to products that you stumble across and think I would like and reach out to me for advice from things like a fashion dilemma to career decisions.  I'm so flattered to that you guys even think of me to reach out to for such things.  Anyway it's all a bit mushy but a big reason why I blog is because of you guys and I can't thank you enough for making this girl feel loved by so many people every single day.

Anyway, on that same note, I was incredibly flattered and happy when Luce from House of Hemingway reached out to me about a brooch that she had made just for me and wanted to send it to me.  When I received it I could tell just how much care she took into making it, including the vintage Pucci piece that she added in the middle!  She knew that I would love it and it is totally me!  Thank you so much Luce, what a wonderful Valentine's present!  And don't forget, go visit her here to enter her giveaway for one of your very own!
What I'm Wearing
Cardigan: Forever 21
Tank: Target
Skirt: Necessary Objects
Tights: Target
Belt: Nordstrom
Shoes: Bally
Ring: Kimberly Baker
Brooch: Handmade by House of Hemingway
While there is no red or pink in any part of this outfit (except for the lips!) I still love it for Valentine's day as it's a bit sweet with the ruffle skirt and the crochet cardigan and of course the pretty brooch.  Speaking of the lips, I'm obsessed with bright pink lips lately and went on a hunt to find the perfect pink lippie.  I feel like I should do a separate blog post about it as it's super cheap but one of my absolute favorites!
I did a Valentine's nail as well :)  The little pink spots that you see are actually a glitter heart polish so I had little hearts all over my fingers!

Heritage1981 Crochet Knitted Cardigan
I love the look of the crochet cardigans but watch out for it getting caught on stuff!  Snag city!  I love how long this Free People cardigan is, it's a great length for dresses.
Mossimo® Women's Applique Tank
Target is really surprising me with their clothes lately.  I don't wear green often but I really like the color of the tank that I'm wearing and the quality is pretty good too.  I think this top is adorable as well and would look cute under the same cardi. This tank is similar to mine and looks quite comfy too.

I bought my skirt so long ago I can't even remember when but surprisingly I found it!  And even better it's on sale for $9.99!  And I found a dress version of it too.

These Marc by Marc Jacobs pumps are a great color too.  Or these peeptoe pleated pumps are great for the spring!
