This is an outfit from the fall, hence all the leaves around me but it never made it on the blog because I didn’t like it much.  I mean, I think it’s a good outfit in concept but the pants didn’t fit me so it just looks bad.  BUT… I get a lot of questions on ASOS sizing (I know, it’s a bit crazy!) so I thought I’d post these pants to give you guys an idea of the fit of their regular sizing pants as opposed to their Petite Sizing which you can see a pair on me in this lookbook.  (Both are a size 2)  They are much too big on me and throughout the day they seemed to stretch even more and by the end of the day were falling around my hips.  I could belt it but then it bunched really weird so now these are relegated to the back of my closet and probably won’t be worn unless I can convince my tailor to slim them down for me for not too crazy of a cost.  It’s a shame because I love the style and the color and I really wanted them to work.  I didn’t think that petite sizing would make much of a difference (my usual take on petite sizing is slightly smaller fit and shorter inseam but not a crazy difference) but I’d say it’s at least a full size and a half bigger so be warned when ordering pants from ASOS.  I got to meet up with Jean last night (more on that later!) who is the queen of petite sizing and fits and I was talking to her about how I don’t tend to buy petite sizing in pants because the inseams are always too short for me but for ASOS, petite sizing is definitely the way to go!  Just thought I’d share the tip with those of you that always wonder what size to order and if you should get the regular or petite size.  🙂

P.S. I’m on a flats kick and am loving cap toe flats, check out my top picks over on the Smarter blog!

I'm glad you did post this one cause I happen to like it a lot! I think the pants don't look bad, skinny ones would've been perfect but I think this "casual" fit works for a more relax look and goes very good with the proportions, the combo is great!

I totally understand and feel for you. I have the same issue because I'm "borderline plus" hahahaha. I think that it makes a huge diff. when the sizing is he same number but one is on the "plus" size. I hate that the fabric begins to give and by lunch I have these horrid bagginess around the knees…. sigh*

Motivation to work out? Perhaps… hehehehe….

I love the color combination and I've been on the search for a polka dot shirt for YEARS. YEARS….. YEARS!!!

Loving your blouse! I should take advantage of the fact that Zara is so close to my office.

I always love your color combinations. Too bad about these pants that became baggier and baggier. I have a pair like that too but don't want to go to the tailors..

I really like the color of the pants. This is a beautiful outfit, can't even tell the pants are not fitting good. Another tip for ASOS, if I am ordering maxis I always get the petite size. The regular sizes maxis are so long.

I've been wondering about ASOS sizing for quite some time. It's great to have the advice and experiences of other bloggers on these topics. Thank you!

I find that pants are the absolute hardest/worst things to buy, even when you can try on a bunch in store – forget about online. I love Jean's in-depth reviews (though they really don't apply to me). P.S. Love the cute top!

Great to know about the pants sizing. I've avoided ordering pants and such from Asos for that inexperienced reason!

I've never bought anything from Asos before. I have to check it out! I never noticed the bagginess of the pants until you pointed it out. Some people wear it like that so I just figured that was what you were going for.

Besides the pants, looking fab as always 🙂

My gosh that is a huge difference between petite and regular! I know what you mean about being hesitant about petite sizing though…I feel like I can go both ways sometimes depending on the brand. It's tricky!
