Basics: LAmade

You know what? I just realized that I’m not too much of a “basics” girl and even though I *think* I have enough basics, when I get dressed and reach for them, I just don’t love the pieces that I do have.  It also happens to get to the point where I just want to wear a tee and cardigan and the cardigan looks nice but the tee I’m wearing underneath is just old and not cute so it just looks weird.  Does that happen to anyone else?  Anyway, thanks to twitter, I was reintroduced to LAmade, a great basics line.  I do have quite a few LAmade pieces that I got a few years ago but I haven’t looked at the line for awhile.  I am actually loving quite a few things that I think I need to restock my basics wardrobe.  The pieces that I do have, the quality is great and the price isn’t super cheap but what I’ve found that investing in a few basics is so much better than buying those oh so tempting $5 shirts at Forever 21 that only last a few washes.

I love these pieces that look great either alone or worn with a blazer or cardigan.  And, I love how they paired these with colored denim which is so what I’m going to be doing when the sun finally comes out here!

They also have some great “not so basic” basics.  Don’t those sweater cardigans look so cozy?  And I love the tanks, I would totally wear them underneath a blazer or one of these cardigans.

Oh and the dresses!  I love these, they are perfect for the spring/summer when I’ll want to just be lazy and put something cute on and go.  I’m loving the stripes!

And I should totally keep this to myself since I totally want to win (hehe) but they are having a fun  facebook contest.  All you need to do is to like them and enter to win!  Good luck, I hope you (or I!) win! 🙂

Oh poor basics, always neglected, always last minute and yes, always on the cheap end. I too fall for those $5 F21 tees! However I've found that the Merona brand at target has better quality basics. They're still very cheap but I've had some that have lasted years and while the F21's come and go, the Merona's stay strong! I'll sign up for the giveaway, maybe these will change my mind!

    Oh, and I call Forever21 = F21 I'm too ashamed, I'm waaay past being 21 at this point 🙁 hahaha….

I've never heard of LAmade before but their pieces look so comfy. I especially love those striped dresses. I'll definitely check them out.

Great picks! I'm all basics, no frills. So… totally opposite of you. 🙂 I will pay $$ for a tee (if I like it a lot) without even hesitating. As a stay at home mom and jewelry designer/maker I live for comfort, but I like that comfort to look good and last long.

Oh wow, I love these picks! I almost wish it was winter again so I could wear the asymmetrical cardigan. Almost. I'm in need of new basics so this is great!

Don't you hate when a basic becomes your favorite and you over use them and they start looking old? Well, I do so yes, I've had that same problem with having cute cardigans but old basics.

BTW, I ALWAYS LOVE your picks! 🙂

that is totally me! I really need to stock up on my favorites and then just not wear them and keep them in my closet for replacements for the ones I frequently wear get too old.

How true!!! I have the exact same problem. I tend to migrate towards buying trendy or statement pieces that I often overlook the basics. Love this post! And how great is that Cape Cod Mini dress! Also, i'm finally pulling the trigger and buying myself some pieces from your jewelry line! I love them all — can't wait till they arrive.

Basics are pretty important. Great for layering! I've been "slowly" learning over the years. I too like things that've got all the trendy stuff going on already… but I forget it's important to have the 'simpler' stuff also. Where do I store these things?? I have yet to figure that part out also…

Its funny when i read this post because after a few seconds i thought oh thats right, you actually don't sport a lot of basic wear outfits:) So i think its a fab idea that you plan to get some basics.

I have a few basics but like you, i always find something wrong with them. They look too old or dont match my cardigans, lol…

I dont know, i guess im more of a pattern/print girl? It adds more fun to the eye, hehehe
