Links to start out a great 2013

This year has been amazing.  I am so thankful for the wonderful people that I have in my life, the amazing opportunities that have come my way and just being HAPPY all the time.  After being continually sick for the past few years (and finally, FINALLY! just recently figuring out why I was sick) I have put my health in front of everything else and made me realize that taking care of myself needs to be the most important thing because if I don't take care of myself, how do I expect to take care of others, take care of my business, take care of everything in my life that I want to take care of.  I've made small changes like going to yoga 3 times a week, working out consistently, eating better and just taking the time to work on myself or just enjoy being with myself.  I'm not good with words but I hope that if there are readers out there that are just like me and tries to put everything else but yourself first, please take the time to be good to yourself.  You will find yourself much more happier and at peace than ever.

I wanted to share a few articles that I came across that I bookmark and read often and hope that this can help you guys get a great start to 2013 as well.  I added a few little excerpts from each article but hope you click over to read the full articles.

Good basic tips to keep in mind, always.

Lookbook: Bonjour

What I'm Wearing
ASOS Bonjour Sweater (now on sale) - I'm not one to wear words on my clothes usually but couldn't resist this simple but cute sweater.
OASAP Sequin Collar Blouse - Thought it needed a bit of sparkle so added the blouse underneath but it created weird bunching all over.  I love this sequin collar that you can just add to any shirt to get the same effect with no bunching!  Actually any of these styles are so cute, I'm going to go to Nordstrom to check them out in person, I'll let you know what I get!
Madewell Jeans -  Check out their sale section, it's an additional 30% off!  I love their silk boyshirts and always stock up when they go on sale.  And this super cute cardigan with heart elbow patches that I've been wanting since I first saw it (glad I waited for it to go on sale!)
Vintage Chanel bag - have you checked out Belle & Clive?  It's a new sample sale site that has mostly just high end designer stuff.  They always have Proenza Schouler, Mulberry, Valentino, Prada, etc... sales and I'm always ready to pull the trigger on everything.  The prices aren't cheap but they are reasonable and a great way to get a designer bag for a discount.  Anyway, they have vintage Chanel bags this week and they have my bag.  Here's my invite if you need it, they give you $10 to spend once you sign up!
Black and Gold Love Bracelet
Black and Gold Chain Bracelet
Gold Love Bracelet
Prada Booties - I like these that are more of a "shootie" since they are lower and don't cut me off too high at the ankles which can make my legs look even shorter.  These booties from Michael Kors are similar.

Yikes, it's almost New Year's Eve and my plans are still not finalized!  I do this every year and we procrastinate on what we are going to do.  But you know us girls, if I don't finalize my plans, I can not finalize my outfit, so I need to make some decisions like now!  Such problems right?  LOL.  Have a good weekend!

Happy Holidays!

Just wanted to wish everyone Happy Holidays!  My sister and I are so grateful for the support that we've gotten for t+j Designs and we want to thank everyone for making 2012 such a fun, fabulous year for us.  Merry Christmas to those of you that are celebrating today!

It's a low key Christmas for us this year so I won't be getting too dressed up but I still can have fun playing dress up on my blog right?

I'm actually contemplating that dress for my New Year's Eve dress, it's darling!  The model above is wearing tights with rhinestones all over and  I love them.  I couldn't find those exact ones but I did find these ones that are similar.  I'm ordering them to try them out!

Right:
get it for $34 today only! (50% off) use code HOLIDAY50
Left:

I've never owned a leather dress before (faux or not) and I'm loving the pleats on this one.  It actually seems very wearable.  Definitely easy enough to transition to other occasions by adding a blazer, tights and booties.

Lookbook: Pumpkin

What I'm Wearing
ASOS Classic Trench - have had this trench for awhile now and it's my go to coat for the less windy days.  It's a bit too cold for it now though!
Happy Scarf  - thank you to the team at Happy Scarf who take care of me every season with a box full of awesome scarves!  I'm obsessed with scarves and never leave home without one.  All the scarves are soooo soft and they have a ton of great prints.  I get asked about my scarves all the time and I always point them to Happy Scarf (plus I just love the name!)
Rag & Bone Sweater - bought this sweater because I wanted a bright colored sweater and then debated forever about keeping it as I wasn't sure about the color.  I don't tend to wear orange a lot and didn't want to look like a pumpkin.  Finally put it on one day and decided it was the perfect orange!  I love it now.
Rag & Bone coated jeans - Similar and on sale.  I love these coated jeans that give a bit of a leather look.  I also have them in black and they totally look like leather pants.  Highly recommended.  Plus a ton cheaper than buying real leather pants!  There's actually quite a few coated jeans on sale.  These Citizens and these Rich & Skinny jeans are 40% off
Miu Miu Pumps - if you're lucky you might still be able to catch the leather versions of these on sale!  Same with the suede & glitter pumps!  I love those.
YSL Mini Chyc - Here in the regular size.  I've also contemplated the Mulberry Bayswater tote as well.  It's really similar in size and shape.
Chanel Ring - Anniversary present from my husband :)
t+j Designs jewelry:
-Pave Link Bracelet
-Double Chain Necklace
-Leopard Bow Bracelet
Our holiday fab fifty is going on!  Get our Red Resin & Crystal Necklace for 50% off, it's only $34 until tomorrow!  Use code HOLIDAY50

So excited to have a few days to enjoy spending time with my loved ones.  Wishing you all the best during this holiday season and thank you so much for spending a little bit of your day reading my blog.

Target + Neiman Marcus 50% off sale

Just had to let you know, the Target + Neiman Marcus collection is on sale for 50% off!  Not sure how long it's supposed to last so if you missed out when it first came out like I did, go pick up some stuff now!

Colored Lace for New Year's Eve

image from Net-a-Porter Issa Capsule Collection

When I'm flipping through magazines, I tend to tear out a lot of pages of stuff that I like (I do this because I try to toss magazines as soon as I'm done reading them or else I would hoard a million magazines.) and recently I've been tearing out pages on colored lace and I'm now on the hunt for them!  I'm thinking instead of going sparkles and sequins like I usually do for New Year's Eve, I'm going to do a fun color lace!

I love this one but they are out of my size.  On it's own it's alright but with the addition of the right accessories, it's so glam!  I'm loving the color and thinking that it would be a cute summer wedding dress too.

From L to R:
Erin Fetherston - love this gorgeous coral color and if you can't tell I'm a fan of long sleeve dresses.  I love the mixture of the lace with the silky skirt
Milly - this gray lace is so pretty.  I'd wear the blouse version of this too.  I think paired just like how they have it and a cream/off white blazer would be a great look.   (on another note, love this Milly lace top too!)
DVF - I'm not a huge fan of body hugging dresses but I do like the shape and the pretty color.  It is easy to just add a jacket or even a cozy sweater to change up the look and hide the flaws that a body hugging dress like this might highlight on its own.
T Bags - more casual than the rest but I think it would still work well for a New Year's Eve party.  I'd add some glam, blingy jewels (like this statement necklace), gold heels and a gold cutch.

I found some great casual looks too.  Love this top, love this look!  I would do a different skirt, probably this faux leather pleated skirt but still it's so cute!

Some more budget friendly options from Forever 21.

If you are in the Chicago area, I wanted to let you know that my fabulous sister is hosting an event at Escada!  I so wish I was there to go but I know she would love to have you guys there for a great evening of fashion and fun!  See the details below and RSVP if you can make it.

Designer shoe sale haul

It's my bi-annual designer shoe sale haul :)  I tend to save up all my money and buy most of my shoes only twice a year during the sales.  I always end up buying a ton of shoes because I can never resist a good sale especially on shoes!  Well, this year I actually found a pretty bag that was on sale too so I definitely can not keep all of these but thought I'd show you what I ended up getting and maybe you can let me know which ones I should return?  I really do need your help as I love them all!

I completely forgot to take "real" (not iPhone) pics of these Fendi pumps but I instagrammed them last week.  They are so cute and I've been eyeing them forever, couldn't believe the black ones went on sale!  I can't find them on sale anymore, seems like they are back to being full price.

click through for the rest of my haul!

Lookbook: Green Print and Chanel

What I'm Wearing
Amanda Uprichard Dress - same print but strapless.  I got this dress for a steal, like $50 or something.  Amazon has amazing deals on clothes but you have to weed through a ton of stuff so I try to just search by brand.  Amanda Uprichard makes beautiful silk pieces and I stalk Amazon for the best deals on her line.  I've got my eye on this shirt.  It's 77% off! The one thing is prices vary by print and size so you just have to click through to check to see if you can get the good deal on the one that you want.  I just ordered this fur vest for $38!
BB Dakota Leather Lapel Blazer (now 30% off!) - I bought this blazer at the beginning of the summer and it's been sitting in my closet since.  So happy to pull it out for the fall.  I love the chic addition of the leather lapels and the fit is perfect for someone like me with smaller shoulders.  (I'm wearing the 0).  I highly recommend this blazer if you are looking for a dressier blazer.  The quality is great and it's on sale and under $100 so totally worth it!  If you are looking for a more basic but nice quality blazer, my favorite is the J Crew Schoolboy Blazer.  I have it in navy and it's definitely a staple that will be in my closet for years.
J Crew Belt - have you seen this adorable bow belt? It's SO cute in person.  I think a glitter belt would be a good addition to this dress too and easily make it into more of a party dress.  And don't forget, you can take 30% off all J Crew orders right now!
DKNY tights
YSL Platforms - the Tribute Sandal is the most similar to mine that are a few seasons old.  I love the height these give me and the platform just makes them really comfortable to wear.
Vintage Chanel Bag - LOVE this mini vintage flap!
Double Wrap Chain Bracelet and Pave Link Bracelet - take 25% off your entire order with code GIFT25 and get our Gunmetal Crystal Bracelet set for free with orders over $30!

Still so much to do and Christmas is almost here!  I'm having a great holiday season and I hope you all are too.

Styling Pants: Day & Night

I've been on a pants kick lately.  I used to prefer to be in jeans but I've found that I rarely reach for them these days and when I do, it's usually colored denim.

J Crew makes my favorite pants, the Cafe Capri and it comes in a ton of colors.  I love that they work well for any occasion.  I can wear them to a business meeting...

Cafe Capri - take 30% off all orders. use code WISHLIST
Gold Chain Link Necklace - take 25% off all orders. use code GIFT25

Or to dinner with friends...

Gold and Black Bracelet - take 25% off all orders. use code GIFT25

I also just came across these tuxedo jeggings from American Eagle and I'm loving the casual but fancy twist with the tuxedo stripe.  Dress them down for a daytime casual but chic look.
Tuxedo Jeggings - take 40% off with code 23815931
Black and Silver Chain Bracelet

or easily dress them up with a blazer for a fab nightime look.

OPI Skyfall Collection - the reds

Although I'm not usually a red nail polish person (I much prefer pink) I can't help but feel a little bit more in the holiday mood when I have red nails.  The OPI Skyfall collection has gorgeous shades of reds that are perfect for the holidays.

"Die Another Day" is a gorgeous red with lots of shine but no shimmer and is my absolute favorite if the bunch.  It's so gorgeous on and when I was wearing it, had so many people ask me what color this was as everyone loved it!

"Skyfall" is a deep maroon also with no shimmer and is a good darker color for those of us with pale skin.  I think this color would look pretty as a matte too!  I'm going to try it with my matte topcoat next time.

"You Only Live Twice" is actually more pink than red and has a hint of shimmer in it.  My apologies for the bad picture of this color but it's actually really pretty in person and definitely a pink that I will be reaching for often.

"The Spy Who Loved Me" is a pretty red with shimmer in it and I think perfect for a holiday party.

I received the entire Skyfall Collection and I have to say, there is not one color that I don't like out of it!  It's seriously one of my favorite collections that OPI has done.

Designer Shoe Sale

Thank you so so much for all the support from yesterday's post.  It really means a lot to me.  Now back to the regular fashion fluff that usually goes on here :)

If you haven't checked, there's still a ton of designer shoes on sale.  My favorite places to buy are Nordstrom and Net-a-porter but Saks and Neiman Marcus also has great designer sales going on now as well.  And although I haven't checked it out yet, Nordstrom has also marked down Louboutin shoes in store!  I bought too much this year so am going to avoid seeing what Loubies went on sale or else I'll be in much bigger trouble.

During the fall sale I usually just stock up on pumps but I can't resist these sandals on sale either.

I'm going to try to take pictures soon to show you guys what I bought from the sale.  I actually ended up buying a bag too so I have to return a pair or two.  I need your help in deciding which ones to keep!

Oh and I also got word from my Chanel SA that they are doing pre-sale right now.  She has a few bags but mostly accessories (pins, scarves) that are going on sale.  I'm going to try to go tonight to see what styles are going on sale.  They don't allow pictures anymore but I'll see what I can do to share if you guys want to know!

Being an entrepreneur

Life has been crazy lately and I'm so busy that my head is spinning constantly and I haven't had a moment to rest.  And that is quite literal as I've been back from China for a week and I'm still not on a consistent sleep schedule.  It's more like a "no sleep" schedule, I'm getting about 3 hours a night.  I'm thinking it won't be about January until I actually get some sleep!

I absolutely love being a business owner and feel lucky and blessed to be living my dreams and doing what I love but what I learned from this year is that being a retailer this time of year means getting no rest or vacation starting from November and I suspect all the way through January.  We started our business only about a year and a half ago so last year we were too new to feel the rush of the holiday shopping madness but this year, OH MY.  What a difference a year makes.  This is not me complaining at all, there is nothing more thrilling to be as busy as we are, it's just that this busy-ness truly smacked me in the face as I didn't expect it to come this quick at all!  I get a lot of emails from readers about what it's like to start a business and how I've managed it all and how I made the decision to leave my corporate job to start a business.  I can tell you that it's been rough and it hasn't been easy but every single thing has been worth the risk.  Just seeing what my sister and I (with the help of my parents and brother) have done in this short amount of time, makes me immensely proud and happy.  To see our jewelry on customers and to get wonderful emails from people that enjoy our line is a joy that I never experienced in my corporate life.  In my year and a half of doing this, I've never thought "ugh, 4 more hours left" or "only 3 more days until the weekend." I used to have those thoughts constantly when I was working in the corporate world.  Every day I'm exhausted but happy and thrilled to be doing what I'm doing and I'm so thankful to everyone in my life who has supported me and helped me live out this dream.

Some of our recent press!

To those of you that that are wanting to take this path in life and becoming an entrepreneur I encourage you to start taking the steps to make your dreams a reality.  It's definitely scary and you'll lose sleep over all the risks that you have to take but to finally be living your dreams is the most amazing thing ever.

I don't feel like I'm any kind of expert but with my experience I can tell you that these are a few things that I've realized what has helped me along the way.

Lookbook: BFD

What I'm Wearing
Madewell Cords - I have a few cords from other places but Madewell cords are the softest and comfiest.  The printed cords are also on sale.
Roberto Del Carlo Boots - I get asked about these boots a lot but I bought them a few years ago and I don't think they make them anymore.  They do still make a few similar styles like this and also these boots.  (If you guys haven't shopped Yoox before, they are a great place to get designer stuff for cheaper, you often have to dig but they do have some great off season styles there.  Like these gorgeous Givenchy pumps!)  These Alexander Wang OTK boots are seriously gorgeous!
Balenciaga City Bag - I call this my fall bag as I never seem to carry it until the fall.  It's just the perfect fall color!  I just saw this Balenciaga cross body and I love the shape!

Was having a BFD = bad face day so I cut off my head in the last picture, it was too awful to look at.  LOL. Just one of those days you know?  Anyway, finally getting over my cold and feeling back to normal.  I hope you guys are having a great start to your week!

J Crew 25% off - shopping and my picks

J Crew is doing 25% off all orders today only! (use code MERRY)  I went shopping over the weekend when they were doing addt'l 30% off sale and I didn't try on much but these caught my eye and wanted to share.
Sequin Stripe Tee (wearing XS)
on the left: Toothpick Cord - Neon Fuchsia ($59.99 in store)

The jeans and cords were cute and love the color.  Both fit a bit baggy in the waist though in my regular size and they didn't have a size down so I didn't get either.

Here's a better picture of the sequins.  It's really pretty in person.  Wearing the Luxe Chain and Spike Necklace.

The sequin tee also comes in this pretty purple.
A few other things that I saw online...

Jules Dress as seen on me here in retro jade.  I love this dress, definitely thinking about getting it in black.  I got it in a 00 and it fits great, even in the sleeves.  (I have short arms so rarely does anything fit in the sleeves)

I already have the Necklace Tee but it's on sale now for $19.99 + the 25% off makes it a great price!
The Tippi Sweater in polka dot is so cute.
Also just a shot of what I wore shopping.  I just had a share a picture of the J Crew Sequin Bow Cardigan as it's my favorite thing right now!  It's sold out online but they do have this new bow sweater that's really cute.
