Missguided Dresses Review

honest review of missguided dresses

During the summer I realized that I needed more dresses.  Last summer I was pregnant and I lived in dresses but they were all big and billowy to fit over my big belly.  I did not feel like looking pregnant again so I went on a hunt for some cute dresses.  I found missguided.com and have never shopped there before.  I liked quite a few styles so I placed an order and ended up loving what I got!

This Neon Pink Dress is the perfect dress to accessorize.  The color was hard to capture on camera but it most closely resembles the hot pink color that you see on me below.  The dress is very lightweight and almost like a jersey material which means it’s very unforgiving.  It definitely can show your lumps and bumps and even your underwear line.  I solved that by wearing a slip (I’m a fan of this spanx slip) but just so you know in case you get it too!  Other than that, love the dress and the color.  Missguided is a UK brand so I’m always iffy about my sizing.  They equate a UK 4 to a US 0 so I got the size 4 and it fit great so I would stick to their size chart for their sizing suggestions.

I was heading out to a store opening party with a friend so I decided on this outfit.  I paired the dress with my Brian Atwood pumps, a t+j Designs necklace and lucite clutch.

But of course I made some last minute changes so this is what I really wore out.  Changed into my Louboutin heels and Chanel bag.

I wanted something fancy for not only the holidays but also in planning for a girls Vegas trip, where we always like to get a little bit more dressed up. So I picked up this Lace Dress.  I took a 4 in this as well and it fits perfectly like it was made for me.  It zips up in the back which I’m always concerned about as I’m not the biggest fan of back zippers but I understand why they had to add it to the back so that the front of the dress will lay nicely.

The lace is delicate but stretchy so the top is pretty flexible for different sizes.  The waist though, doesn’t have much give so if I gain any weight, it may not fit!  I’ve seen similar dresses for over $100 so was pleased to find this one for $60 (it’s now $55!).

Always the fan of long sleeve dresses, I was immediately attracted to this floral print dress (now on sale).  I liked that it wasn’t too long or too short, however if you are taller than me (I’m 5’2″), it might be quite short on you.  It’s a great dress for these end of summer/early fall nights.  It’s lightweight and fully lined .  There’s not much give in the hips so I wouldn’t advise it to someone who is more curvy in the hip area.

And lastly I picked up this sweater as I just love the pink with the subtle heart.  I have to say out of all the items, this sweater ended up being my favorite!  It’s so soft and warm and very cute on.  I will be wearing it lots this winter.

Overall, I was impressed with the quality of everything I received.  It is very similar to ASOS in price, style and quality.  A lot of their styles trend younger – trendy and skimpy so not exactly my style but there was plenty of styles that I found that I liked.  Shipping wise – because I spent over $120 they upgraded me to US express shipping (I believe they ship from the UK) so I got my package very quickly, in about 4 days I think.  For returns, you have 14 days to return and you will have to pay for return shipping but they have a US address that you send it back to.  Fit wise – I would say everything I bought runs true to size but also runs small.  And I mean that in the way that it fits but because none of the dresses have give to them the hips/thighs were a bit more clingy.  If you are a bit more curvy, I’d size up because I feel like their dresses are made for women with the up and down straight body types.  I think next time I may try a size up just to see the fit.  Pricing seems to fluctuate (I assume due to the exchange rate?) as everything I bought has already changed in prices but only by a few dollars here and there. It’s not a place that I will shop at a lot but I do like browsing the site and when I’m looking for a specific trendy piece I will definitely be shopping there.
