How to Add Glitter to Your Holiday Look

Too often the default for glitter can be tacky and cheap-looking. But for maximum impact this holiday party season, it’s really one of the best options. After all, it’s pretty tough to question the holiday spirit of a girl who’s sparkling with festivity.

To take a baby step into the metaphorical pool of glitter, start by adding to what you already own. Break out your favorite holiday dress and add these subtle glitter-detailed tights for a take that won’t break the bank either.

The perfect accessory to any holiday look is a sparkle-accented manicure. Add this luxe silver top coat to any polish you like for an easily customizable look. I’m partial to a clean nude, which gives the silver glitter an elegant tone.

Experimenting with makeup can get a little tricky since glitter is so difficult to adhere, which is a special adhering primer is absolutely necessary. Top any simple nude eyeshadow look with a light pat of your favorite glitter and you’re good to go. For the most wearable style, a glitter with a clear base like this one is best.

Red is a classic go-to lip color this season. Step up your makeup game one notch by picking a matte jewel-tone red, which gives you the chance to add a subtle flick of gold glitter eyeliner (apply on top of your normal black eyeliner) without making the overall look too sparkly. Keep brows cleanly in line with a good brow gel to tie the face together.

Lastly, for the showstopper, pick one bold statement piece. This sequin skirt is surprisingly easy to wear. Just choose a simple, sleek sleeveless top to tuck in and you’re all set. For that something extra, pat on a little shimmery eyeshadow in a foolproof neutral color. It’ll make your eyes pop in photos.

I love those glitter tights! Since I run among conservative crowds and workplaces, that and the sparkly nailpolish are probably as sparkly as I can go without attracting too much unwanted attention. 🙂

I think another way to add "glitter" is through jewelry! Our jewels are hand-designed in NYC and backed by a lifetime replacement guarantee. I'm happy to offer an exclusive 25% off for a limited time 🙂
