Summer Skin Savers

To me, summertime means tan skin, sun-kissed highlighted hair and breakouts… The combination of extra sun exposure, extra sunscreen and chlorine always freaks my skin out, which is why I need to be a little more diligent.

Great skin is the result of weeks of consistent effort; so getting started now with the proper products is crucial to having beautifully bare skin in June. The below products are my summer skin savers.

Removing dull dead skin in exchange for bright new skin? I’m all about exfoliation and the Boscia Exfoliating Peel Gel is a gem. It acts as both a physical and chemical peel to renew your skin on the surface and inner level. The peel is applied to dry skin and removes with water, and you can actually see and feel your dead skin coming off. Nothing works better for visibly brighter skin immediately.

For something less intense than a peel that I can use three times a week, the Murad Pore Reform Skin Smoothing Polish is my favorite. It has a super smooth, fine texture so it’s not too harsh on your skin. It also has an amazing pomegranate-like scent.

The Avene Thermal Spring Water is one of those products you didn’t know you needed until you got it. It’s a multi-purpose product that feels extra refreshing and cool in the heat of summer. Mist it on your skin for a mid-day pickup and use it to dampen your makeup sponge.

If we’re going to talk sun protection, the Koreans know their stuff. You don’t get flawlessly pale skin like theirs without a fantastic product like the Sulwhasoo Age-Veil UV Protection Cream SPF 30. What makes this sunscreen worth the price is the creamy, rich texture that sinks right in and actually compels you to want to apply (and reapply). After all, what good is SPF if it’s so goopy that you never want to put it on?

It’s never a bad idea to layer SPF products and the NARS Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturizer is a fantastic base, even without the fact that it has SPF 30 going for it. This is my everyday “foundation.” Quick, natural coverage that’s easily blended with a sponge or your fingers, it’ll be a go-to for you too. Plus it’s available in 11 shades, which is exceptional for a tinted moisturizer.

After a long sweltering day, having clean pores is a must for the nighttime. Continuing with our end goal for glowy skin, the Murad Essential-C Cleanser not only gets everything off (with the help of my trusty Clarisonic), it combats accumulated free-radical damage from my day with its effective mix of antioxidants and vitamins. It’s not drying either, which is important for maintaining normal oil production.

P.S. Get this adorable and oh-so-useful weekly desk pad for penciling in your beauty routine.

Thanks so much for your share! I need to start taking better care of my skin, I currently have no routine… I wash my face when I shower with bar soap… (My girlfriends were shocked!). 🙁

It's never too late to get started! I'd start out with a very gentle basic cleanser so your skin doesn't go into shock from a more complex formula but gradually introduce a product with more benefits like the Murad Vitamin C one above as time passes!
