After spending part of the Summer in the Northeast last year, I am so grateful to be in Los Angeles right now. Humidity is something I never really encountered growing up, and I honestly have no idea how people who live in humid climates deal with it.
While this guide for “heat-proof” makeup isn’t necessarily going to keep your makeup on in jungle-like environments, it’ll definitely help. Keep these tips in mind for beach/pool days too!
If there’s one tip that helps me heat-proof my makeup the most, it’s to avoid applying concealer on blemishes. I find that the raised texture of blemishes makes any concentrated, applied product slip right off in heat, making the spot look worse.
Instead, lightly use an intense matte foundation like the L’Oreal Infallible Matte Foundation, just to even out skin tone and take away redness. Covering with a translucent powder like the Rimmel Stay Matte with a puff on trouble areas offers extra protection from sweat and heat.
Brows are so important to a well-done face. The Anastasia Dipbrow is the equivalent of shellac for your brows. Lock them in place with a clear gel like the affordable Maybelline Great Lash Clear. Tip: Wait a minute after applying the brow color before brushing on brow gel so your brows are set.
I can’t walk out of the house without eye makeup personally. Cream to powder eyeshadows like the Maybelline Color Tattoo are easily applied with fingers and act as a base to lock in your waterproof eyeliner: Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner. Don’t forget a waterproof mascara like Make Up For Ever Aqua Smoky Lash.
Lips are usually less affected by heat, but it can’t hurt to go with a matte formula. The Anastasia Liquid Lipstick is a little more hydrating and comes in a wide range of gorgeous shades.
Finish everything off with generous spritzes of a matte setting spray like the NYX Matte Finish Setting Spray. I’d also carry this around to reapply mid-day.
