NYC is hands down my favorite place to eat, because there’s such an intense variety and concentration of delicious food never more than a block away. There’s always a new café or brunch spot to check out.
Dominique Ansel is the king of innovation, so his latest establishment: Dominique Ansel Kitchen feels like a natural extension of his original outpost in Soho. This West Village contender has a clean French vibe and an entirely different menu to binge on.
At this restaurant, you’ll pay at the front register and then seat yourself. An employee will bring you your order. There aren’t too many seats, but I went on a Saturday brunch-time and managed to grab a table. This location has a bathroom as well, which is always a bonus in NYC.
You can try Ansel’s version of avocado toast or a sage brownie here. But don’t miss out on the two stars: matcha beignets and the brown sugar kouign amann. The beignets are hot and beautifully light and crisp. The otherworldly texture of the kouign amann cannot be expressed in words.
