Summer Travels and Clear Skin

Do you have any Summer travel plans this year? It’s the busiest time of year to be traveling, but that’s also inevitably when most people have time off. Besides the challenges of coordinating logistics, all that running around is undeniably not very good for your skin.
Just this past weekend, I went down to NYC for the weekend. I don’t know if it’s the hardness of the city’s water or what, but invariably I tend to break out whenever I visit. That said, I’ve come to learn through experience that the best way to help is to start incorporating specific skin-clarifying products into my routine when I know I’ll be traveling. These are some I brought along this past trip.

The Clarity MD 2 Step Clear Skin Essentials System is a fantastic deal in my opinion if you’re dying to try a konjac sponge, one of the newest things to hit the skincare market. It comes with a relatively gentle cleanser and serum with 1% salicylic acid for targeting blemished skin too. I prefer to use the sponge alone with water after I use the cleanser for a gentler exfoliation.
The Dermalogica Clear Start Oil Clearing Matte Moisturizer has SPF 15, which is always a win in my book. I don’t particularly notice it keeping my skin matte, but the texture is super light and doesn’t exacerbate any breakouts.
The irony of using clarifying treatments is that your skin will dry out with continued use. That’s when I like to step in with a light, sheered out application of the Korres Wild Rose + Vitamin C Advanced Brightening Sleeping Facial. It smells amazing (sensitive skin may not tolerate) and seriously does brighten any dullness by morning.
The Indie Lee Blemish Lotion seems like an antiquated product, but it works like a pinch for bringing down the swelling that comes with a gigantic zit. I like to use it as an overnight spot treatment, since the pink doesn’t absorb. The tiny bottle will also go a long way since you literally need just a dab of the treatment.
