All year round it’s good to have an assortment of healthy and easily reachable snacks around, but around the holidays you’ll be even more glad you do. Although it’s not easy to find snacks that are portable and healthy, I’m rounding up some of my favorites below that are keeping my fueled on-the-go this holiday season.
On a side note, having pretty and colorfully packaged healthy snacks always makes them look more appealing, making it slightly easier to choose them over a bag of cookies.
To start, we have the Seven Sundays Muesli Square, which has a deliciously moist and soft cookie bar-like texture. My favorite, the Banana Toasted Pecan tastes like banana bread! Collagen in snack bars may sound like a fad, but it makes for a high-protein bar that doesn’t have an “off” aftertaste like some other protein bars I’ve tried. Cue Primal Kitchen‘s simple and clean flavors, and the macadamia sea salt is especially yummy. This Bar Saves Lives is crunchy and chewy like traditional granola bars but comes in more interesting flavors like wild blueberry pistachio. The company also works to help feed hungry children with every bar purchase, hence its name.
The Chia Co. Chia Shots are one kind of unconventional high-protein, high fiber snack that work well on the go too. Mix with a pressed juice or sprinkle into yogurt, for example. Apples are a filling snack made even more nutritious and energizing with some almond butter. The Barney Butter Snack Packs come in squeezable portion-controlled servings and are available in all their amazing flavors like Vanilla + Espresso. The New Primal Meat Sticks are natural and made without the preservatives found in conventional jerkies and other meat snacks. The texture of these are more like cured meats or sausage. They aren’t too salty and would go well with some crackers for a high protein mid-day snack.
What kinds of snacks do you like to keep in your bag? Have you tried any of these?
