As I get older, I realize more and more how much I’m becoming so much like my mom. Especially now that I am a mom myself, I realize how I raise my daughter is very similar to how my mom raised me. One thing though that I’ve always known is that I got my fashion sense from my mom and in part inspired me to start this blog. I’ve always loved how my mom dressed and growing up, seeing how she paired her outfits and how she dressed me, really inspired me and my love of fashion.
Being an entrepreneur was also something that I inherited from my parents. My dad has been an entrepreneur since I was born basically. He’s owned multiple businesses and my mom has always worked alongside him. With my mom’s love of fashion and my dad’s entrepreneurial sense, I think it was only natural that my sister and I started our own fashion business! I see how much I inherited from my parents and I love seeing the traits that my daughter gets from me!
My mom looks amazing for her age and growing up I always got “What? That’s your mom?” whenever we went out as everyone assumed she was my sister! I’m thankful for the good genes I got from her but I also have learned so much about taking care of my health and my skin from her, which I think truly helps with keeping you looking and feeling young. My mom never deprived of us any treats but she was great at teaching my siblings and I about eating in moderation. She was also an amazing cook and helped me love eating fruits and vegetables at a young age. I’m thankful for that as it’s helped steer my way in what I cook for my family and hopefully I can encourage my daughter to love vegetables. Right now, she’s in a phase where anything green cannot be on her plate! My mom also taught me a lot about skincare and even to this day, I learn about most of the latest skincare products or treatments from my mom before anyone else!
One thing though, that my mom has been struggling with is hereditary hair loss (HHL). It’s something that she’s been dealing with for the past few years and I know it hasn’t been easy for her. Her collection of hats is amazing though! She always looks fabulous! 🙂 I am so happy to partner with Rogaine on this and she was extremely happy to be a part of it too. Genetics is the leading cause of hair loss among women, accounting for 90% of cases (vs. other causes like stress, thyroid disease, medications, dietary deficiencies, etc.). Did you know that for women experiencing hair thinning, 76% of them start to notice it after the age of 30?
Here are the key signs of HHL to look out for in women:
- Thinning hair – you see your hair losing volume and density overtime
- Hair shedding – if you are shedding 150 or more hairs a day, it is considered
significant hair loss.
- Widening part or visible scalp – when you can start to see your scalp more prominently, that is a definite sign
of hair loss.
Luckily HHL is a manageable trait and something that can help you get ahead of it is Rogaine.
Women’s Rogaine and Men’s Rogaine foam products are formulated with 5%
minoxidil—the only topical ingredient FDA-approved to regrow hair—and are clinically proven to regrow up to 25% more hair in 3-4 months.
My mom has just started the treatment and I will be sharing the progress on my Instagram so make sure to follow along if you are interested! I think it’s great that there is a treatment like Rogaine to help with this as it’s something that I might have to think about as I age, especially knowing how many other traits I’ve inherited from my mom. Rogaine has a super effective formula that quickly penetrates the scalp and revitalizes dormant hair follicles to stimulate regrowth (and you can see results in as little as 3-4 months!). And with continued use, new hairs will grow in as the same color and thickness as your normal, healthy-looking hair. Even better, Rogaine is the #1 dermatologist recommended brand for hair regrowth, and the foam products are clinically proven to regrow up to 25% more hair after three months of use. I’m very hopeful for my mom (and my future self) with this treatment and am really looking forward to seeing the results and sharing them with you over the next few months!
Does HHL run in your family? What kinds of traits do you share with your family?
