1st look: Nordstrom Anniversary Sale 2018

I stalked the Nordstrom website until the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale 2018 Catalog was available online and spent an hour getting my wishlist ready! LOL  Here’s the first look at what will be going on sale and the styles you won’t want to miss out on.

If you are like me and shop the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale every year, you know that there are certain pieces that sell out within the first weeks of early access and then again during public access.  If you want to get some good deals on fall and winter staples, I highly recommend you to bookmark these links so that you’ll be able to add them to cart and checkout as soon as they are available.

If you want early access you need the card.  It’s that simple!  Sign up here. I worked for Nordstrom a really long time ago.  I worked in the Point of View department in college (just during the anniversary sale) and then after I graduated, I worked in the corporate office in a few (mostly HR) positions where we were asked to work the floor on the first day of the sale every year. I LOVE the Nordstrom Anniversary sale and  I have had a Nordstrom Visa credit card since I worked there.  I use it for not only my Nordstrom purchases but everything else too!  I shop at Nordstrom so much that those $20 rewards notes that they send out are like gold to me.  I love being able to apply it to my Nordstrom purchases and even made my husband start using the card so I could earn more points.

Head in store on the first day!

Don’t just shop online, you have to go in store! Why? Because a lot of times things look way better in person.  Also, you get the personal experience from the sales person who’s seen all the merchandise and can show you styles you may be interested in as well as all the colors that pieces come in. Trust me, I worked many Anniversary Sales (this was the days before online shopping was crazy) and I LOVED helping customers find exactly what they wanted.  It was so fun to shop with customers all day long.

The best days to shop

If you can, try to go the first Wednesday – Friday as the first weekend is usually pretty nuts, at least in my area. Usually there is a big area in each department that is roped off for the early access.  It looks super exclusive but don’t be afraid to go in there!  Just head in and let someone know you want to shop early access (if they didn’t already approach you) and you can let them know if you already have a Nordstrom card or if you want to sign up for one.

My Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Strategy

I admit, I get nervous about missing items so, I’ll stay up late just so I can shop the sale on the night everything is released.  I usually go through my bookmarks, add everything to cart and then cull my cart from there.  I then go to my local Nordstrom store the next day and I try on those things that I had purchased just so I can make sure if I need another size or color, I can get it right there.  What can I say? I’m serious about the Anniversary Sale and hate missing out on the best items!

SHOP SHOES & BOOTS FIRST

Especially boots!  Those always go first and if you have a popular size, they go quick!  I find that shoes don’t get restocked as much as clothing so I always shop for shoes first.

These Stuart Weitzman boots (reg $775, sale $489.90) are gorgeous and I’m hoping I’ll be able to snag a pair!

A few short booties that are classic and versatile. I love that they always have great styles that will last through a few seasons.  The booties with the metal detail (reg. $109.95, sale $69.90) come in a few colors, I’m eyeing the black and camel. The open side bootie (reg. $119.95, sale $79.90) also comes in white!  If you remember from last year, white booties were really trending so I think they will be even more popular this year.

I got a pair of tall camel boots last year so I probably won’t get another pair however I can tell you that I highly recommend them to everyone.  They ended up being just as versatile as my black tall boots but it was great to mix things up and not always be wearing black in the winter.  These knee high boots are $224.95 regularly but on sale for $149.90!

Shop Fall/Winter Staples + Workwear Essentials

Sweaters, jeans, and coats are always at the top of my list and I think everyone else’s too!  I have a few sweaters from 4-5 years ago from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale that I still wear all the time.  One thing I wanted to mention is that a lot of pieces that are great for work are some of the ones you’ll want to pick up first.  I always feel like I tend to look at the casual items first but by the time I get to the more polished workwear pieces, I can’t find my size.

It’s barely even summer but I’m already looking forward to all the cozy coats and sweaters for fall!

I usually recommend shopping for bags/accessories last, but I spotted this tote and thought it was such a great tote for work and even a great baby/diaper bag!

FALL AND WINTER CASUAL ESSENTIALS

On the casual side, there are so many coats, jeans and shoes that I’m eyeing!  My favorite denim brand is FRAME denim as they fit my body so well and the crop length are perfect for shorties like me.  There are a few that will be on sale including these skinny jeans and straight leg jeans that I’ll be buying!

I know, UGG boots?  But I can’t deny how comfy and warm they are!  Living in a colder climate, they are an absolute necessary so I always get a pair from the sale.  They go fast though (the kids UGGs too!) so make sure to grab your size as soon as you can!

Shop online for jewelry, accessories and beauty products

You can find some great deals for jewelry and accessories and especially for beauty products but I don’t leave too much time to shop for them in store.  I find that you can usually get those deals online and then you don’t have to worry about dealing with crowds.  The only thing is, for beauty products, you may want to head in store for the items that you want to test out to see if the colors work for you.  If you are just buying beauty tools or items you already own and want to stock up on, online is your best bet!

I’ll do another round up of the best beauty products to buy as there are a lot of brands that don’t usually do sales that have Anniversary Sale specials. You really don’t want to miss out on the MAC Sets and the Laura Mercier palette!
