5 ideas to keep your kids toys organized

5 easy ways to organize your kids playroom, kids playroom decor, kids room organization tips, kids toy organization ideas

As a mom of a 5 year old and a newborn, I am constantly looking for easy ways to organize and keep our house clean. My daughter’s playroom was something I knew I needed to find storage solutions for that were easy enough for her to use in order to help clean up and also that look cute and hide the clutter. I wanted to share some simple ideas to organize your kids toys as well as a peek inside of our playroom and how we keep it organized.

IKEA SHELVES AND POLKA DOT STORAGE

This shelf from Ikea was the perfect solution to hold a lot of toys and I loved the simple look of it too. We used two sets of these shelves and placed them horizontally. We displayed some of her favorite items and cute artwork on the top to add some fun details and the prettiest oval rug right in front to play on.

We are still in the process of decorating and arranging furniture in our house and so we ended up switching the play area over to the other side of the basement so the below is where it currently sits but the layout is still the same.

Here is a close-up of the storage bins we used which hold (and hide) all of her toys! We both loved the metallic gold polka dot details for a girly touch. I also added in these mini suitcases in one of the cubby slots for a decorative touch.

CUTE STORAGE IDEA FOR BOOKS, Art supplies and more

A rolling cart like this is perfect for all the toys, stuffed animals and books too!

ORGANIZE DOLLS AND STUFFED ANIMALS

These back of door shoe organizers are amazing for when it comes to organizing and the possibilities are endless as to what you store in them. I love the idea of using them for Barbies and all of the accessories! My daughter is more into stuffed animals right now so we use the organizer to keep all of them in one place. This tiered basket version is also great to utilize the back of the door space.

KEEP SMALL OBJECTS ORGANIZED

I’ve learned that if each item has it’s own container, clean up is a lot quicker and it makes it easier for your kids to help out. These little jars are so cute and perfect for craft supplies! You could even DIY these with mason jars and using these colored lids!

If you want to get more creative like the above image, get these plastic animals and give them a quick coat of spray paint.  Hot glue them to the lid and you’ve got some adorable storage containers for all those little knick knacks!

BASKETS TO STORE LARGE ITEMS

For bigger objects like balls or stuffed animals, cute baskets are the best! They are such a simple solution and they look cute in the room too. I love this ombré pink rope basket and this pretty rose gold wire basket.

CUTE BASKETS FOR FUNCTION AND DECOR

If you want something that is prettier for display, I recently got these baskets that I’ve been using for our master bedroom but I also added them to Edie’s nursery and I love how it keeps her cute Cuddle and Kind animals together!  I also keep diapers in there but the basket is deep enough so that they stay hidden.
