Nursery Reveal: Pink and gray floral nursery decor

Baby Girl Nursery Decor Ideas

We moved into our new house about 5 months ago and it’s been quite the process of decorating, getting in new furniture and changing some things around but I’m happy to finally share some more of our home, starting with Edie’s nursery!

PINK AND GRAY BABY GIRL NURSERY

I wanted something simple and pretty that was still “girly” but not over the top cutesy.  I’m really happy with what we ended up with!  It’s not done yet as I still haven’t been able to find the right rug to fit the room (I’ve bought and returned too many rugs to count) so if you have any suggestions, let me know!  I’m also still looking for curtains for the room.  Why is it the last finishing touches are the hardest to pick?

Head to the bottom of this post for all the details of the room and where to shop everything!

PAINTING THE NURSERY

One of the first things that I wanted to do was to paint her room.  Most of the rooms in our house is a lovely shade of gray which I do love in other rooms, just not the nursery.  I worked with Paintzen who helped me find a great local painter and a gorgeous shade of pink for the room!  I loved how easy it was to find a painter through Paintzen.  Before we sold our last house, I wanted to get our living room painted and it took me forever through many referrals to find a painter that could do it in our timeframe and our budget.  And of course that was trustworthy!  Paintzen takes care of all of that as they have vetted and hand selected the best painters.  They also sent over swatches of the paint colors that I was interested in so it was easy for me to look through and pick out which paint we wanted to use.

I love these animal prints that we found on Minted and the gray frames went perfect with my color scheme!

INTERIOR DESIGN SERVICE

I typically like to decorate our place with my husband but for the nursery I wanted to partner with an interior designer as I wanted to have another opinion of how to decorate!  I got to work with Decoraid who introduced me to MaKenzie, an interior designer based here in Seattle.  I loved working with her and getting her input in the decor.  She was so easy to work with, offered great suggestions and really understood my style and what I was wanting.  Decoraid is a great service where they pair you with the perfect interior designer based on your style and space. It’s so much easier than having to vet through a bunch of designers on your own and hoping that they will be able to match your style and budget!

MaKenzie came over to take a look at the room and we discussed style, what furniture styles I like and eventually she came up with a great inspiration board with a few layouts of the room that wold work.  We spent the next few months getting furniture in, picking out decor and just making sure that the room was what I wanted.

One of the first items that I had picked out for the room was the flower wall decals so we had planned many of the details around that. My husband and I put up the wall decals and it was super easy to apply!  I was worried as our walls our textured so thought it might not look great but it blends in beautifully.

AFFORDABLE NURSERY FURNITURE

I wanted to stick to a pretty reasonable budget when pulling together the nursery and found the best pieces from Delta Children.  The glider is so comfortable and perfect for nursing.

As you can see it’s also perfect for big sis when she wants her turn at holding baby sister!Baby Girl Nursery Decor Ideasdelta children glider review

I love the simple design of the crib.  The room itself is not a huge room so the crib was the perfect size for the space.  We also got the mattress from them which I did a ton of research and it was very highly rated.  We don’t plan on putting her in the crib until she’s a bit older as she’s still sleeping in our room, but I’m glad that we have a great mattress for when she’s ready to transition to sleeping in her crib.

As I mentioned in my toy organization post, I love these pretty baskets that look great as decor and hold a ton of stuff. These ones are deep enough to keep diapers in without having them stick out. I actually bought a few of these to put in all the rooms of our house as they are just a great way to keep things organized easily.

The dresser is old, it’s actually what we had used in our master bedroom before my husband and I got a new dresser. I wanted to move it in the nursery as it has nice deep drawers to keep lots of things so all her clothes and swaddles, bibs, towels etc… are neatly folded in there.

If you noticed, I didn’t do a diaper changing table here on purpose.  For our first daughter, we really didn’t use it that much.  I have a diaper changing pad that I keep in the corner but we often times change diapers in the family room or other rooms that we spend more time in, so I just didn’t think we needed a specific space in her nursery just for changing diapers.  floral pink nursery design

My favorite part of the room is simply that it’s a fun space for us to spend all together.  Layla loves to spend time with Edie in there, reading, singing and playing with her.  We also pull out the playmat for her to do tummy time.  I’m so happy with how the room turned out and even though it’s not 100% done, it’s not something that I’m stressing about as I love what we’ve got so far and we all love spending time as a family in there!
