It’s so easy to go overboard at the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, there are thousands of items on sale. And since everything is new items that we haven’t seen before, we tend to want to grab it before it goes back up to full price.
My strategy the past few sales is to stick with good quality basics that can be easily mixed in with my current wardrobe or easy to mix and match for the season.
This year’s haul consisted of a few sweaters, cardigans, tops and jeans. For shoes, I went with black and tan booties and a pair of over the knee boots that I’m really happy with.
Fall Outfit Ideas with Nordstrom Anniversary Sale
I wanted to share some outfit ideas that use the same pieces with some easy swaps. If you are looking to purchase anything at the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, I highly recommend a long cardigan, dark skinny jeans, booties and over the knee boots. Honestly, I feel like these are outfits that I’m going to be living in this fall and winter. And even better, all of these are great for #momlife as well.
Sizing note: I’m 5’2″ and typically size XS or 0/2. Everything I’m wearing below are those sizes and run true to size unless otherwise mentioned.
Bodysuit: the black top that you’ll see with most of the cardigans is my favorite $15 bodysuit which I wear with all my high waisted jeans. So much easier than trying to keep a shirt tucked in and it’s really comfy to wear too!
Leopard Cardigan
I had wanted the leopard crewneck but it was sold out already at my store (which is crazy, I went on the 2nd day that early access was open!) but I’m glad to see it’s still available online. They only had this long cardigan, which I do love, but it’s a size up which makes it a bit too roomy on me.

Free People Tunic
Always a fan of free people flowy tops and I love the pattern and detail of this one. I love that just adding the OTK boots, makes it a bit more dressier and great to wear to a girl’s night but with the ankle booties it’s a great daytime look too.

Hoodie Cardigan
This cardigan is from last year but they brought it back for this year’s sale too! I’m glad because it is a favorite and it’s so soft and cozy. The striped long sleeve top is a great basic. It’s a ribbed knit and a bit warmer than your typical long sleeve tee.

Striped Ribbed Tops
These are the same top but different colors. I liked the black and white one as a layering top (you can wear a jean jacket, vest, cardigan over it) and I loved the colors of the one of the left. It’s perfect for the fall!

Plushy Sweater
This sweater is my top favorite for this year! So soft and really easy to wear. I love this color too, it’s the perfect neutral sweater to wear day and night.

Cashmere Sweaters
A few sweaters that aren’t super exciting but at the same time great pieces to have in your closet. I like the little bit of the balloon sleeves of the pink top on the left. The cashmere sweater on the right is super soft and such a great price for cashmere.

Long Lightweight Cardigan
The pink cardigan is lightweight and so easy to wear with every outfit! I’m thinking about getting this one in a different color too.

Skinny jeans for short girls
Wanted to show the fit of the jeans. The one on the right is more of a high waist fit. Both are slim fit but with a ton of stretch so it’s really comfy. And even though they have stretch, they don’t sag throughout the day which is one of my pet peeves with jeans! I discovered Frame Denim last year and have been a huge convert ever since. I mostly just wear AG and Frame Denim now because it’s hard for me to find denim that fits my body and these two brand are great for girls with short legs like mine!

Ankle boots for fall
A close up of the booties I’m wearing in this post. I love the chunky heels on both, they are both really comfortable and easy to put on/take off. I always recommend getting a tan/nude bootie as well as a black one so that you are set for the fall.

Cardigans: Leopard | Tan | Cream | Pink | Gray
The leopard and the pink one are very similar in styles however, the leopard cardigan is so much longer!
I did buy this dress but didn’t photograph it yet, so wanted to share the dressing room photo. I love finding maxi dresses that work for petite girls like me! The square neck dress is cute and would look so much better with nude heels.
I’m really into leopard for fall! The peplum top is adorable and you could wear it out to dinner but add a cami underneath and I think it’s totally work appropriate too. I jut loved this leopard print and tried on the button down top and a pleated skirt (that is on it’s way to me right now). The tie front trousers are also part of the sale! Aren’t they so cute? They come in several colors and are so flattering on.
