Kids of all ages have so much energy but toddlers seem to have the most! It can be hard to entertain them at home and I’ve found that heading outside can keep them quite busy. Below are some ideas for fun and easy outdoor activities for toddlers and even older kids too!
This post is in partnership with babyganics. All opinions are my own.
Chasing Bubbles
Set up a bubble machine to blow bubbles and have your little one chase them! I also give my oldest her own bottle of bubbles to blow and they both just love seeing all the bubbles float away while they chase after them!
Don’t forget the sunscreen!
When you head outside, it’s always important to make sure your kids are protected with sunscreen. I have always used Babyganics sunscreen as I really like that they use plant based ingredients and non-synthetic fragrances. My littlest one has delicate skin and this sunscreen has never bothered her.
And if you have a toddler you also know that they have no patience for standing still while you try to apply their sunscreen! I really appreciate the continuous spray so I only need one hand to apply!
Help with Gardening
Toddlers love to “help” so when my husband and I are gardening, we bring out the kids gardening tools and let them dig in the dirt and water our flowers.
It makes them so happy to help and keeps them occupied for awhile, especially if you ask them to dig a bigger hole!
Head out on a Nature Scavenger Hunt
A scavenger hunt is always fun but this one is even better as you don’t need anything but this free nature scavenger hunt printable! This one will need more of your assistance but they will love searching and finding these items. Bigger kids will also be happy to help check off the items as well!
Keep the Mosquitos away
While I love to spend lots of time outdoors, I also want to make sure that we keep the insects away. Babyganics natural insect repellent is made with plant and essential oils to help keep the mosquitos away and it really works! It’s not strong smelling and so easy to apply. I always make sure to apply it to my girls before we head out the door and we never come home with mosquito bites!

These include items that can easily be found in your yard, a short walk in your neighborhood or even at the park.
My kids love it when they find things that they can check off the list and it’s fun as we find different things on every walk that we go on!
Read Outside Together
We tend to think of reading as an indoor activity but I love taking books with us outdoors too! My oldest is learning to read so she reads books to us or I read books to them that they both enjoy.
Ball Hunt
These ball pit balls are great for littles ones, as they are small (easy for toddler hands to hold), lightweight and so cheap! You can get a pack of $100 for less than $20.
My oldest and I drew some fun pictures on the balls and then I hide all of them around the yard. We play a game of finding the ones with the drawings and those get “extra points”. My oldest absolutely loves this game and her little sister loves to chase after her and look for balls as well!
To simplify for toddlers, scatter the balls around your yard and ask them to look for specific colors, or just let them hunt for balls! I like to bring a basket for them to store the balls in which is fun in itself for her to be able to throw the balls in the basket.
We also put the balls in our kiddie pool and she has fun pulling them out to find the ones with pictures or simply just to splash around in the pool with them.
I hope this has helped sparked some ideas on what to do with your toddler as the weather warms up! Sun protection is so important to me, especially for our kids skin and even though we spend a lot of time outside when the sun is out, I love that the Babyganics products that I use for my kids are helping protect them throughout the season.
