As a busy working mom, capsule wardrobes are a must! I am sharing my Spring capsule wardrobe essentials for moms plus a fun free printable checklist for you to easily put your capsule wardrobe together.
I like to create a capsule wardrobe one for each new season (Fall and winter capsule wardrobe tips here!) that I can stick to and have outfits that can transition through all of the activities in our days.
Typically, I look for basics with feminine details, quality pieces over quantity, and keep the “trendy pieces” minimal. My advice is to stick to neutral colors with the exception of some brighter hues for accent colors and prints added for variety. SPRING CAPSULE WARDROBES FOR MOMS
TOPS:
A great basic white t-shirt, a flattering blouse and a simple bodysuit are on the top of my list for warm weather tops. A breezy tunic is also a great piece to have in warmer weather and looks great paired with leggings, shorts or over a swimsuit. A white button down top is another great staple that can be worn so many different ways and is a true classic style that withstands the test of time.
DRESSES:
Dresses are a great option for warm weather dressing and to complete your spring style! I love a classic shirt dress and pretty maxi dress and they are so easy to dress up and down. A floral mini dress is a must and a classic body con midi dress is flattering on all body types and perfect for Summer nights out. A little black dress is a classic silhouette we all love. Choose dresses that are flattering, light weight and easy to style.
LIGHT LAYERS:
With warmer weather comes lighter layers and light jackets. I have a few go-to’s that I always reach for during this time of year; a thin pullover sweater, a great denim jacket, a cropped hoodie and a loose knit cardigan. A trench coat or a leather jacket are great for layering on rainy days. A blazer with an oversized fit is effortlessly chic and can be worn a million different ways.
BOTTOMS:
Of course denim shorts are an essential for Spring/Summer but I also think white skinny jeans can be so versatile and fun to mix things up for the season. If skinny jeans aren’t you favorite, a good pair of straight jeans is a great option as well. Leggings are something I wear year round (faux leather leggings are a personal favortie and an awesome versatile option!), and a great pair of linen pants can be easily worn day to night.
If you are a skirts girl, I love a cute mini skirt or midi skirts for Spring/Summer! They can be styled so many different ways, for day and night, and with all different styles of tops as well.
SHOES AND ACCESSORIES:
Dare I say this is my favorite part of an outfit?! Spring/Summer is the time to pull out sandals or wedges, a great pair of sunnies, a cool hat and a chic neutral bag or tote bag to complete all of your effortless looks. I love to get a new pair of white sneakers or neutral sneakers and a baseball cap as well to pair with my casual looks each season. These are all classic pieces that you will re-use over and over again all year long.
