It’s time to start decorating for Halloween! Check out these 16 indoor Halloween decorating ideas and inspiration below.
SPOOKY (BUT NOT TOO SPOOKY) HALLOWEEN DECORATING IDEAS
While I love spooky and scary decor, it doesn’t work for my home since I have little ones that don’t react well to the “creepy” decorations. I love to incorporate skulls, bats and spiders but in a fun way for decorating for Halloween.
I always include pinks and purples (as it matches my home decor) and bright colors with festive pops to make it fun.
Here’s how I decorated my mantle this year! I made the bats from my Cricut Maker, you can find the bats template on Cricut Design Space. And then added pumpkins of various sizes. I went to the craft store to get the “BOO” letters (you can buy them individually so feel free to get creative and spell out something fun!) And then did a quick coat of purple paint.
You will be able to get the “It’s just a bunch of Hocus Pocus” print in a future blog post, so stay tuned for that, I will have it available for download soon!
I love how simple and cute this is just pairing cute Halloween prints (find some free halloween downloadable prints I made here!) and colorful pumpkins.
Give me all of the pops of pink! Loving the pink pumpkins here and the addition of a fun banner on the mantle.
I thought this was the cutest inspiration on how to decorate a kids room/playroom for Halloween. I will be sharing more on how I decorated my girls playroom soon!
CLASSIC (AND MODERN) HALLOWEEN DECOR
Classic and minimal Halloween decor seems to be more popular lately and I love the clean/modern feel it adds to a space!
Here’s how I decorated for Halloween last year. Above is our fireplace in our sitting room which is a bit more formal (and not kid friendly) so I kept the decorations a bit minimal.

This is my necklace wall in my sitting room and I like to keep things a bit minimal in here since the necklace wall is the focal point of the room. I wrapped some books in paper and used letter stickers to add the sayings on the side!
Here’s a few more decor ideas that I’m totally inspired by! I love the pops of orange and the pumpkins in the frames!
These bats make such a great focal point to this wall! I also love that they kept with a black and white theme for their halloween decor to keep it sleek and modern.
These ideas show how fun it is to decorate your home for halloween without having to go over the top scary or creepy.
These wall bats are everywhere lately and I love the idea of doing strictly black and white decor!
HALLOWEEN DECOR THE WHOLE FAMILY CAN ENJOY
Decorating is so fun when the whole family gets involved and I love that these ideas would work for kids of all ages!
This mantle is so cute and I love the pops of gold. The “Boo” balloons are a great idea to add to walls or even doors.
You don’t need to dedicate a whole wall or mantle to your decor. Love this idea on how to decorate a console table behind the couch with festive pops!
Classic black white and orange decor is always a crowd pleaser and I love the pile of pumpkins stacked inside of the fire place!
Halloween Shelf Styling
If you don’t have a large space to decorate, a bookshelf is a great place to style your halloween decorations.
This is my shelf where I like to display some of my favorite shoes and bags so I thought I’d add a bit of fun for Halloween with pumpkins and bats (handmade by my mother in law!)
This one is a bit more on the creepy side but I love that it’s still minimal and stayed with the black and white theme. I’m loving the spider webs! It just adds the perfect touch to the shelves.
And how pretty is this? I love that it’s still your “everyday” decor but then add in some touches like the skulls and pumpkins and it’s so great for halloween.
I don’t decorate my kids rooms for halloween but I love this idea of a Halloween bookshelf filled with books perfect for this season.
